Big grill vs small grill

Looking at the new 3er, one thing that jumps out at me is the size of the "kidney grills". Having just recently admired a pristine Z8 and Z3, I got curious as to how a less enlarged grill would appear. Here's a quick animated gif that illustrates the difference.

Got to admit, the smaller does look better. I’m hoping that when seeing in th flesh it won’t look so big.

Small grill looks odd and out of place. Big grill always looks bigger out of context or next to older models... picture it to the correct scale on the road and it fits right in

IMHO, a middle ground between the two would've been the perfect balance

Perhaps it's needed for cooling the bigger engines?

Looking at BMW's current design language, they seem to be simply getter bigger and bolder. The X7 has huge grilles. The iNext Concept car gives us a clue large grilles are not required, but big all the same.

These bigger grills look fine in the flesh....

There was so much drama on the x5 g05 grills and tail lights. Once u see in person all issues just go away.

its like the M badges
when BMW figures out the market like this stuff, they paste more of it or makes it bigger
M badges on every other car..
the iconic grill.. BIGGER

the smaller grill looks not right because the lights have not been adjusted ..
tho one somewhere in between prob would look better as the other poster indicated
