Mineral White vs Alpine White
I can't decide which I like better ... MW or AW. Can someone point me to some photos of each to make a comparison. Searching has been painful.

I spent some time at a dealership looking at 2 cars in these colours side by side. I also had them park outside under daylight sun.
IMHO the Alpine White was a better colour outside, and the mineral white was far better inside under artificial light. Make sure you compare 2 cars side by side outside......you may find you can save on the extra metallic paint cost |

I have had both and it is a hard choice, AW is whiter, it will make MW look dirty and yellow side by side. MW is a try coat, so it is very metallic and has a perl coat - it is much harder to touch up paint chips to look good, but is a very pretty color (just don't park it near a really white car or it will not look white). I think it looks great in the sun when the metallics really come out. Both great colors in my book.

Mineral White also has depth where Alpine White is flat. BMW released the new in X5 at all the shows in Mineral White. Mineral White is a tri coat and much more expensive to paint. I think it looks a lot richer.
Here is a video of Mineral White. |

Alpine White
I have Alpine White and as mentioned before it truly is a pure white no matter when you look at it. I love Alpine White.

AW all the way - MW is an absolute nightmare for touchup / matching.
Both my M4 and G05 are AW. |

FYI. I currently have a Summit with their Ivory Tri Coat that is very similar to the Mineral white. I paid extra for it as well. I liked it so much I ordered it on my new X50 M-Sport. Its true that its a bit tougher to touch up but not by much. Both white colors dont show dirt. I drove all the way from Pa to Orlando in Feb last year and it looked great in the parking lot. Oddly enough I parked with a X5 at Disney resort last year. This year I am taking the new BMW. The Summit was our family car but now the new 50i M-Sport is MY car that the family rides in.
Here are a few pics in different light of my Summit. Notice how it accents the styling lines. I believe this is why BMW used Mineral White on their show X5's. At Disney. in snow long road trip to beach |

I can tell you how I chose between the two. I live in Portland and it is cloudy here except for summer. So mineral white looked so off when it was cloudy outside. Alpine white on the other hand stood out even on a dark cloudy day and at night as well. I see you are in California, so if you go with mineral white you should be fine. but its not pure white, its dull compared to alpine white.

Thanks for the help so far guys. It is sunny most days here in California. Both whites look great. I'm leaning towards MW because there are so many flat white cars parked in the driveways around my place. Still haven't fully decided.

Both are good colors, MW would be my preferred choice of the two since it looks better than a blank non-metallic white

I'd go with Alpine White. It always looks good, no matter what lighting condition it's under. |

I am nut a huge fan of pearl whites, mainly because other manufacturers (Lexus, Cadillac) put too much pearl in the paint and it looks less like white and more like cream.
That said, MW from BMW looks more like silver or light grey in indirect light. I think it looks great on larger luxury models like the X5 or 7 series as opposed to the smaller M cars like the 2,3, or 4. If i was buying a small BMW, I would get AW. It looks more sporty and fits the car better. On an SUV like the GO5, I'd go with MW first and then AW. I ended up buying an AW w/ Coffee interior due to availability. I have some regrets about settling for my #2 choice, but in the end AW looks very clean and is easy to maintain like MW. I also like the strong contrast with the black elements on the car that AW gives you. I think it looks even better on the M packaged cars because of the black window surrounds. . The car before this was a Lexus convertible in Matador Red. Now, that is a beautiful color. Even if you don't like Lexuses or red cars, that red is exceptional and people would complement me on it all the time. |

To me, Alpine white looks ‘clean and fresh” and Mineral White looks “dressed up and elegant”. They’re both really nice though and you can’t go wrong with either.

I have a mineral white M235i and honestly, I ordered Alpine white for my G05. To me, the Mineral white looks dirty when compared to any other white car. Yes, it is metallic and has "depth", however, the trade off of looking yellow next to any other white car wasn't worth it. To top it off, Alpine white (in my opinion) is a pretty big staple in the BMW repertoire. It looks bright and classy.
Personally, save your money and get the Alpine white - look at it this way: Mineral white as you may "love" it, you know you won't ever hate the alpine white. Again, all personal preference. I even got my M235i wrapped because I didn't like the color so much, only reason I got it was the amazing deal (and now I'm looking to trade for a M4). |

I have both, AW is a nightmare specially after rain or snow even a nail could create a scratch line plus is very hard to remove all those black dot and line sticking near the fender and front bumper .
MW is by far way better to taking care, it look more shiny at the night time even under the sun plus much more easier to clean up as it have clear coat. |

Our 335i convertible is MW. The depth is awesome and in my opinion looks much better than AW. I think it's absolutely personal preference and you should look at both side by side in person. Otherwise it's impossible to make a decision! Both are gorgeous. We went with Phytonic blue for our G05 50i MSport - but MW was our 2nd choice. Good luck!
