Continental run flat warranty at the dealership

I had to get new tires today. The tires on my car are the Continental Contipro Contact 205/55/R16 H rated tire put on by the dealer at 11,000 miles to replace the Bridgestones that came with my car. This set lasted only 14,000 miles. I found out on Continental's website the tires are under warranty. I called my BMW dealership who installed the worn out tires, and they told me that there is no warranty with any of the tires they install. I called Continental again who confirmed my tires had a 60,000 mile tread life warranty and the BMW dealership should honor the warranty. When I arrived at the dealership, and told them what Continental said, they tried to tell me since they are not a "tire store", they could not honor the warranty. I kindly informed them they are wrong according to Continental and gave them Continental's customer support phone number. My service manager called Continental in front of me on speaker phone. They told him they should honor the warranty and set the dealership up with a claim form and gave them the procedures for processing the claim. I ended up paying only $37 per tire after the pro-rate. Continental said any dealer who sells their tires should honor the warranty and will get reimbursed the difference from Continental when they return the tires with the claim form to their supplier. My dealer never knew this before, so I imagine other dealers do not. If you have Continental tires on your car check their website to see what the warranty is on your particular model and ask your dealer to honor the warranty and replace your tires at the pro rated cost.

Has anyone else been given a pro rate by the dealer when replacing their Continental runflats?

no just get the $500-700 safeguard program. as long as you have 3/32" and hit a nail they have to put new tires on. bmw never repairs Z-rated runflats.

there's alot of road debris and nails and other objects in the road down here. i suspect the tires won't last a year with my nail luck. it seems as though the stock tires get really sticky in the back when you accelerate fast and this would increase the chances of you picking up a foreign object.

i'm suprised you got 16K miles. 140 treadwear with 300hp i doubt most people will see 1 year before needing new rears lol.

Correct, I have an '06 325xi.

Here is Continental's warranty:
http://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/warranty/CONTI1.pdf

They give 40,000 miles on V rated, 60,000 on H rated for the ContiProContact SSR runflats. I guess you are out of luck as far as this warranty with Z rated.
