X5 Water Issue
I have new X5. 72000 sticker M package etc. After owning car for 4 weeks electronics started shorting out and I could hear water in car. The car seems to be generating the water. The water ran behind dash under console and rear carpet was wet. Bmw is reluctant to replace or buy back the car. One comment was we have look at the cost. A vehicle with this much water and electronics damage should be considered a flood vehicle. This is the short story there is more. I stopped at one dealer to see if the car was safe to drive and his comment was I have never seen anything like this. I have owned at least 12 Bmw vehicles but that does not seem to matter. I am very disappointed the way they are handling this.

Condensation from AC? My dad had this kind of issue with a Buick a while back. It turned out the condensation from the AC system wasn't draining outside, but was instead going into the cabin soaking the carpet. I don't recall electrical problems but could be. I'm not sure where BMW has the evaporator coil but in an old Nissan I had it was under the center console over the Drivetrain tunnel.

X5 water issue
They are not sure where the water is coming from. Maybe something not connected at the factory ? The damage is done I have a list of about 7 things that have shut down. One is a issue with the cruise control which is a safety issue. I hope they do the right thing. Would you want this car?

I hope your dealership and BMW work with you to make this right. That sounds terrible. Good luck!

They still need to investigate where the water intrusion came from. That will certainly set the course of action as to who and what was to blame and the actions to repair or replace your car.

I had a large water spot on the leather part of the passenger door. Right below the tweeter. Apparently BMW is aware of the issue and is looking for a fix or every a redesign. Could take months!

OP - post pictures, just looking to see you are legit. Not for nothing - seems far fetched and just looking for more information.

It could be from a plugged AC condenser drain, I've had this happen on cars before but not when brand new. Did they check the drain?

If you've only been working with your dealership, I suggest you contact BMW of North America ASAP.
https://www.bmwusa.com/contact-us.html Please post more information as you get it. Until you know the source of the water not much can or will be done. |

Can you post a picture of the wet spot and did your dealer actually tell you a re-design is needed to solve your problem. Is it related to door or window seal ?
