results from dyno runs today in my e92 m3

well i figured i'd get a few pulls on the dyno today before i start modding. here are my results:

BONE stock:
302 rwhp max
230 torque

air temp: 98F dewpoint: 70F altimeter: 29.95 in/hg altitude: 585ft = 1.05 dyno correction factor
adjusted HP: 317.1 HP

runs were done on a dyno dynamics dynamometer NOT a dyno jet (which i find to be a crap dyno)

why?

dynojet numbers equate to a more realistic crank hp number then that dyno dynamics...

and dont tell me because u cant make a dynojet load barring... because you can...

because when i'm sitting on a "wheel" dyno i'm not looking for flywheel horsepower. i have accurate numbers and thats all that matters. if i wanted fluff, i'd get on a dyno jet. just my experience. correct me if i'm wrong.

You're wrong. If you think 302rwhp is "correct" then you should take your car back to BMW right now, you got a lemon.

When I used the Neuspeed roller dyno on the M3, I got something like 330 RWHP before we added some (non-scientific) compensation factors to compensate for the miscalculated weight of the car. But on a re-run using a Dynapack 4000 chassis dyno, I got 373 RWHP with no monkey-business compensation factors (meaning, we measured 373 RWHP) on a bone stock M3. So 302 RWHP seems very light to me -- even using a roller dyno.

I did a lot of research on the best way to dyno the M3, and air flow makes a HUGE difference -- up to 20% difference. When Dinan dyno'd their stock M5, they started with poor airflow and the hood down and took measurements. Then simply by adding more air flow, opening the hood, and moving the intake air temperature sensor, they picked up 100hp! So airflow and temperature are very important factors with these motors.

Here's a link to my 373 RWHP runs.

370ish is consistant with other dyno's I have seen. Plus, can't believe the powertrain loss would be 26%!!!! That is simply way too much even for a crapy tranny etc...
