BMW Little Rock refusing to do Dinan upgrade

After days of back and forth and lame excuses I was told today by BMW of Little Rock that they refuse to do the Dinan Stage 2 upgrade on my car. Their reason is that they would be liable for emissions violations. This was after a couple other lame excuses and stalls. But...they were very happy to tell me that BMW is coming out with theiur own version as good as Dinan and it wont void my warranty. They dont know when this will happen but will let me know. Yeah , let me hold my breath on that.
This sucks. They are the only one in this state. I can go to another state but then would have to go their for any future service since I might have to have the Dinan reflashed, and that wont happen at BMW of Llittle Rock.
I am looking for a phone number to call BMW right now and talk to them about this. Other dealers are still doing Dinan and happily I might add. Why mine isnt, I have no clue, but i am pissed.

The better route to go is call Dinan and talk to as high up of a person as you can. Tell them that this Dinan dealership is not offering their flashes and promoting BMW's nonexistant flash over theirs...then just watch how fast Dinan yanks their participation at this dealership!

This sounds f'd up. But I am intrigued as to what BMW might be putting out in the way of a flash. I also recently had a Dinan rep at a dealer tell me they wouldn't pull the ECU to send to Dinan for flashing (which will be neccesary for the new flash when it comes out)... all very wierd.

Actually, I have been talking to Dinan from the start of this mess. I just got off the phone with the regional mgr for Dinan. They have been great. Unfortunately they can't make them do the upgrade, and I dont imagine they will be Dinan dealers much longer. The people at Dinan have been awesome. Based on the wasy they have answered my questions, talked to the dealership and gone out of their way for just one person makes me think they will stand by the warranty and not hang me out to dry.
Looks like I am taking a road trip to another state to get my Stage 2.

Oh yeah, I didn't realize that there might only be one Dinan dealer in Arkansas...

Rather than have to drive to another state, why not just throw an inexpensive jb or turbo tuner on your car instead?

Is that the only BMW dealer in your area?
Luckily for me, I have 4 to choose from.

I had the same reply from BMW of Little Rock. Sucks that is the only dealer we have to choose from.

some dealerships are so bad they have no business being dealerships.

What do you know? Lack of any competition can do this real fast. People start acting like they want you to pay them for merely talking to them. Is there no other BMW dealer within a 200 mile radius? I'd gladly drive 200 miles to avoid dealing with a dealer I feel doesn't deserve my business.

Many BMW dealerships are no longer offering Dinan services. I.e. BMW SF, which use to sell more Dinan tunes then anyone. BMW dealerships make very little margin on these tunes and want to promote BMW perfomance parts more, even if they don't have comparable services. Realistically they can sell a BMW watch and make more money then on a stage II tune.

If BMW really does offer a tune with dinan like characteristics for a reasonable price, retaining normal warranty status, it will quickly become a very popular tune, at least at the lower end of the performance spectrum.

Is Dinan that low of a level of performance?

Ask your dealer that if Dinan sends them the new certificate that they just got proving that their flash meets all emission requirements, will they then give you the flash?

Seriously, ask them. That can happen.

...but you can drive 45 mins south of the city and get it done at the Dinan HQ. I guess that just ONE of the benefits of paying more for everything in California. Also probably another reason as to why the Dinan Tune is so expensive.

As Parboy knows, there are two BMW dealers in this state and this was the only Dinan dealer. The regional mgr from Dinan contacted me and was very cool. We firgured out the next nearest Dinan dealer is Nashville or Dallas, both about 5 hours drive each way. Then should i ever need it reflashed because BMW updated my ecu, I would have to go back to where i got the Dinan from, another 10 hours driving(but I am sure the drive home after the Dinan upgrade would be a quicker). So I am now debating the road trip option for this. I left a message for the Srvc Manager at BMW Little Rock. He is the one who decided not to do the upgrade. I will be talking to him tomorrow to see if he will reconsider.

Let the service manager know that the flash does now meet ALL emissions requirements. Tell him to call Dinan and ask for the proof. Seriously.

I am planning on asking him that. I just emailed him a letter trying to find out what the base reason is for not wanting to do the upgrade. I also told him that it meets emission requirements and Dinan would be happy to call and verify that for him. I am going to follow up the email with aphone call tomorrow and try to find out why he doesnt want to do it and if there is anything that would convice him otherwise.

You have definitely gone about this the right way, and you have certainly done everything that you can from your end. I hope your dealer straightens up. Best of luck to your sir! It would be nice to not have to drive 10 hours round trip to get your flash.

Did they said where in Dallas, TX? What is that dealership name? Need more info, since i'm interested in a flash too as well. However BMW DAllas told me they don't do Dinan.
