Dual Cone Intake - Couplers slipping into filter

Anybody have issues with the couplers in their dual cones slipping "into" the filter? I was reinstalled them again today after finding a small rubber piece inside the filter, and after I attached coupler to filter, I went to push it down the intake hosing and the coupler went in the filter...I finally got it in there securely after 3 attempts...but it leaves me worried.

My concern is that this seems dangerous when driving, if the couplers are so loosely secured in the filter housing. I tightened them as hard as a I could. Should I be worried if they "seem" snug in there and not worry about them falling "in" the filter when driving?

Hopefully you guys can picture what I am trying to say.

Are you using T-bolt clamps or the regular worm drive clamps? If you're still using worms, the t-bolts should fix your problem. Hairspray on the couplers works too.

I'm using what was supplied, a worm clamp. Any idea where I can get t-bolt clamps locally?

This is the issue I was telling you about, since the coupler is not flat enough. It is easy for the filter to slip off it. The fix is for the coupler to be more flat so it has more surface area on the filter flange to grab.

Yeah. I think it's a serious design flaw - the coupler has a very smooth finish (add to that the oily residue on the filter flange) - think it would have been better to go with a wrinkle powdercoat finish for more grip.

The filters are fitting just fine now, but I'm worried if they have the potential to fall out/off after a nice pothole. I don't think I will have these on for long. Probably gonna switch to the stock airbox.

Here's a suggestion, use some sandpaper on the couplers. to make it more rough.
then make sure you wash the coupler before re-install.

Mine seems to be holding on well. I tightened them pretty hard. I never yanked on it to test how well it'll stay.

Garage List
Just tighten the filters on to the pipe before installing the pipe. This way you can make sure they are sitting straight and clamped on tightly.
