Help with Limp mode issue.
Not a big electronics/techy guy so I probably should have let shop install o2 sim from RR, but Im also stubborn. So I attempted it anyway and now I screwed up my car.
Installed the o2 sim first time no problem, but needed adjustment harness. Had RR send it to me and last week I got it. The night I got it I installed and went out for a drive. 5 minutes in got a warning light (looked up in my owners manual and it means engine temp high = limp mode). Got car home and RR tech on phone. He suggested it was a blown fuse and nothing to do with sim. I agree because I returned to stock, tripled check all my wiring and drove out again and got a limp mode even with oil temp under 200*. When I went to look under hood again I found a yellow wire completely severed from the sensor on the passenger side of the AC filter box as well as one wire halfway split. Soldered the cut wire and added liquid tape to both wires and another limp mode. Been without my car for a week b/c I get limp modes. Anyone else ever run into this dilemma? |

Sounds like your installation & removal went wrong ... check whether your O2 sensors are working and being installed & connected to the correct place ...

P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2) Those O2 sims are not working correctly or are installed wrong. I would contact RR once again and discuss the codes. |

That is because I removed the sims after I got the limp modes. It is not sim related. What I am curious about is if a clipped sensor wire or blown fuse would cause the car to go into limp mode as it has?

Yes, it very well could. The problem is that you are going into limp without any definitive codes. That means it is related to the codes set or there are non-OBDII codes stored. Know anyone at a dealer who can scan for all of the codes? One other thought, although I am not sure it would show these symtoms, is if the sensor O2 sensors are reversed. Look down on the passenger side of the engine and tell us which sensor is in the front/rear downpipe The sensor with the grey cable should be in the front. |

I do not think the actual O2 sensors are reversed/causing this problem, because I drove around with the DPs installed for a while without any issue. I am hoping to have a new fuse and sensor in by tuesday, so I will be eliminating one issue at a time. If none of that works, DP's come out and car gets towed to dealership. |
