BMW Hates DINAN & Riss Racing

I have had a never ending problem with my fuel pump in my car. I have a DINAN stage 2 tune and since I had the tune it brought out the problem with the fuel pump. At high RPM in High gears the car does not get enough fuel and cuts out. I brought the car to Hudson Valley BMW and they were such morons I took my car from them unfixed. Well I thought that Greenwich BMW would be a good choice since they were a DINAN dealer. I was wrong they saw the Riss Racing oil catch can and decided that my car was modded and that it was not a fuel pump problem and that I should take the car back to Motor Werks West and have them fix the car. Well I just got off the phone with Motor Werks West and they say I am right it is the fuel pump and nothing wrong with the software. And that they are in touch with DINAN to get Greenwich BMW to do the work. I will let you all know but I am pissed

Good luck getting everything resolved, how can they blame an oil catch can for fuel issues????

Unfortunately this isn't the first and won't be the last finger pointing blame game that goes on between Dinan and BMW for warranty work. It's too bad the BMW customer service has tanked so much that they want to deny such a small bit of work on a warranted car. A friend of mine had the same issue with his Dinan e46 330ci. He went in for a transmission slippage issue and BMW said they wouldn't honor the warranty because it was a Dinan car. He was told to contact Dinan which of course wouldn't fix the transmission because it wasn't part of their warranty. Ridiculous

I don't know how its a Dinan issue.

You could have some banana peel on your engine and some really dumb dealer will blame it saying you fed the car bananas...

Really? I thought Dinan fully covers the car warranty wherever BMW won't during the new car warranty period, unless you've put on other mods that they don't approve of? I didn't think there was "fine print" and exceptions to it?

Nope, they only provide a *very* limited warranty that deals directly with the components they have altered (powertrain for example).Anything out of that BMW is responsible for inluding fueling, electrical, etc. Some dealers use Dinan as an excuse not to honor what would normally be a cut and dry warranty case.

This seems to be the future. So much for the way over priced Dinan being worth it for the warrantied tune!

From what the OP wrote. It was the Riss Racing catch can that made them not warranty the car.

so why didn't you just get the dinan from the dealer? you spend $50K on a car and save $200 on a tune by not buying from them?

in many forms of business that is shi**ing on the seller.

Wrong. Plenty of Dinan-flashed 335is have had warranty work done without issue.

I am sure you are also reading how Dinan is being pushed out by many BMW dealers. Oh well, all I am saying is there is no golden ticket with BMW.

Sounds more like the Riss Racing oil catch can is what sounded the alarm. When the technicians spot modifications that are outside of the BMW-Dinan realm they cry foul, nothing new here...

All of which is unsubstantiated hearsay/rumors. Quite frankly, I've had extensive warranty work done on my car, all of which was covered under warranty, and that my friend is factual data.

There are no golden tickets in life, but that little extra I paid over a piggy (in some cases less than what early adopters of piggies paid in total after upgrades) has paid out ten-fold and that my friend is also a fact.

The reason I went with Motor Werks West is because DINAN said they were the best dealer on the east cost. It actually cost me more to go there not less, they have also provided to me why they are the best with the service I received this time.

Bubbles it is just the fact of life. Every non-Dinan person thinks the price is rediculous and every Dinan purchaser thinks it is the best thing in the world. There will probably never be a middle ground which is ok.

I think you are blending the issue of fact versus personal preference/opinion.

Your personal preference is Dinan is expensive, fine I respect your personal preference/opinion with money.

But the fact still remains that Dinan cars have been repaired and will continue to be repaired under warranty.

So you see there is no need for a middle ground.

Regardless, we all suffer from turbo size envy.
