Strange issue, and I'm stuck

I was driving to the airport, and all of a sudden my cruise died, 4x4 light came on the dash, plus airbag, coolant temp warning ect. I turned around to drive home but things defiantly weren't good. No turn signals, then, red coolant temp warning light. At that point I pulled over, and got a tow. On the side of the road I noticed coolant leaking bad. I pulled the codes, there was a lot (see attached screenshot)

I had time to look at it today and found the coolant leak. Upper overflow hose that runs across the top of the rad. No big deal, but, the battery is completely dead, and a trickle charger will not start, or acknowledge it's attached to a battery when hooked up from under the hood.

Anyone seen this before?

I'm guessing your battery and/or alternator went. A trickle charger won't have enough juice, get a real charger. The coolant leak could be a coincidence, but more likely the car overheated causing a hose to burst due to the water pump not running because of the battery.

Thanks, that's kinda what I suspected. Water pump got cut from power, and heat pressure blew that hose. Battery is newish, possibly still under warranty from the dealer. I'll have a chat with them tomorrow.

I guess that's always possible, but I'd be looking at battery and alternator, first.

These cars have a high power need and all sorts of shit goes crazy when voltage drops.

Dealer says alternator. I think voltage regulator. I found an alternator with voltage regulator at a local scrap yard. Gonna try that.

Aren't the regulators built-in to the alternators? I know they can be replaced, but when you buy a new alt, it should come with a new reg...maybe I'm wrong.

Attached to the back, can be replaced separately.

It’s what I can get, fast and cheap. I’ll the whole unit first.

Since I got an alternator with voltage regulator from the scrap yard, (looks new) I went and replaced the whole unit.

Car is running again!
