Song's Tint Masters

Update

Many people have asked me to post pics of the rear window so after many months here it is. I'm very happy with it because I don't get all OCD about the dots in the rear window, some people do. I've included 3 pics a wide shot a close-up and a super crop.
I hope this helps.

So I had the pleasure of getting my car tinted today at Song's Tint Masters (STM). For those of you who are lazy and want the quick answer - YOU CAN"T GO WRONG WITH SONG'S TINT MASTERS!!
Hann and Jae are awesome and both worked on my car as did one of the STM employees by the name of George.

You can find them here

So before I decided to get my car I researched like a mad man when it came to Tint
Shops. I recently did the same search just last week specific to STM.

I was shocked when I came across a review on the M5 boards. The reviewer didn't have much good to say about STM. So I decided to document my experience for this forum. As I read further into the M5board review, I was irritated when the reviewer referred to Hann's employee as 'his amigo'. I'm from L.A. and proud of it. There are lots of latinos in L.A. - unless the individual is your friend, calling him an 'amigo' is well - - insulting - regardless of your personal stance regarding immigration. We drive bimmers, let's show a bit more class.

I digress, so let's get back to the review. Although I guess it's more of a Picto-Review

This is the waiting room, I didn't sit there - I watched the install and took a ton of pics! But very comfortable nonetheless.

This is the workshop. You can see Jae sizing up the Huper for the side windows. He wet sanded the dot matrix prior to applying the tint

Jae lining up the tint, these guys are artists. I tried to apply tint a while back at a friends shop and it ain't easy! Jae makes it look easy!

For the paranoid people on these forums - yes they use Huper.

This is George sizing the rear tint. Hann told me that George has been with him for 19 years! Why would you keep someone around that long if they weren't good at their job?

Jae working some more - he knows he's good at what he does and will answer
every question for you.

Dot Matrix issues? Not here.

George wet-sanding the rear. They taped off the felt lining and laid down a towel.
The lube they used was dish soap diluted in water.

This pic really show the difference between the OEM Glass and Huper 40%. Can you guess which is which?

George getting ready to apply the rear. The rear was wet-sanded on the dot matrix
and cleaned with a steel wool making sure not to damage the radio lines and defroster.

This is another one of the employees telling George what areas to focus on.

Hann and Jae working together, I like these pics a lot.

Jae is an artist, look at how thin this shaving is, he shaves it at an angle so it curves with the glass! Looks OEM!

Hann is an artist as well. These guys are really
really good at what they do

Hann doing some touch up work

All in all it was a great experience. Took about 3 hours. I got Huper all around at 40%. Hann told me that if I saw anything that looked remotely suspicious going on with the tints, to bring it back immediately so they can fix it. He also told
me to come back in a week for touch ups and so he can take a look at it. Jae mentioned that it can take up to 2 weeks for the Huper to really smooth out.

I'm not worried, if I have a problem I take it back - simple. Once the rear window has settled, I'll post pics

I'm not the type that list's how much I pay for stuff so don't ask. You can call them to find out. If you guys do a group buy, I'm sure they'll work with you.

I also learned that they have a successful commercial facet to their business as well. They have a contract with Pink Berry!!

I HOPE YOU GUYS ENJOYED THE POST!!

I like it, thought people had to pop open your panels to get to your windows. This is a relief. I sure would like to have them do this but I am north Cali. Love the pix, gives me assurance.

Trust me, I wouldn't allow my door panels to be removed, and I doubt that
a reputable Tint Shop would want to deal with the Liability. Looks like you may have to take a summer trip to Socal

What's with the documentary? It's just tinting the windows. If you paid more than $250 you got ripped off.

Thanks for your input Adam now go away.

If you didn't notice this is a forum.
Forums are suppose to be informational, this post is here to help inform people on the tinting process as well as vendors, in my case Song's Tint Masters. If STM wasn't good at what they do, I would post that as well.

it's great and everything but... was sanding the dot matrix really necessary? When I had my tint done, they left it as is.. and I haven't had any problems with it bubbling or anything...

it's gonna be a lot harder to hide your tint with your front windshield tinted.. popo can see that very clearly... with front windows, at least you can roll them down if police are around..

I've had these guys do three of my cars in the past, all with Huper. They are by far the best in the business. You get what you pay for, as they say.

I think you do need those black dots on the window, why else would car companies put those on?

They don't remove it - they just smooth it out. Thanks for the link

Do you by any chance have comfort access? if so did you go with ceramic based tint? I've been doing some research and it seems like that is the best way to go.

Yes and Yes. I do have comfort access and this particular Huper Tint is a ceramic tint. I've only had it for one day but no problems yet.

So cal too - would be interested also in a potential group deal.

Question - when the LAPD see your tinted beast, what will these artists charge to REMOVE the tints from the front drivers and passenger panels?

Great tint job btw - lets just hope you don't have to remove it later on.

You obviously have no friggin' clue as to the costs of Huper Optik tint. Don't post unless you have knowledge about the tint, the work that STM does, and how many windows were done. Because you did, it shows your lack of knowledge.

I will do my best to - bottom line is that if there are problems STM will work to get them right, they are that type of place.

I'm pretty sure they would no it for nothing - removing tints is much easier than applying them.

Thanks e92phreak ! The thing I was most impressed by was Hanns' willingness to please. I know if over the next week any issues pop up he'll take care of them.
