ED Journal : 2020 Atlantis M4 ZCP

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Been waiting to do this trip for a long time and in just a few days I head to Munich to pick up my new car. To say I'm beyond excited would be an understatement.

It's a 2020 M4.
  • Competition Package
  • Individual Atlantis Metallic
  • Individual Piano Finish Trim
  • Full Merino Leather

We'll be in Germany for 9 days and will be driving around 1,600 miles (according to how we've planned it so far). I'll be updating this thread with pics and details from the trip.

Enjoy your trip! Right now we are having some great weather here. Day temps are between 75-85 and Mid to Lo 50's at night. Perfect time to pick up your car!

I've been planning this for a long time now and that thread haunts me. I keep having visions of me walking down and seeing Atlantic.

I even talked to the dealer about it and checked all the paperwork multiple times.

Congratulations! Is this your first Euro Delivery?

I still remember the excitement and anticipation of our first Euro Delivery for my wife's 2011 335is Coupe. This was followed in 2016 by my M4 and my wife's 2018 M3 last year and they were all as exciting as the first one! Her M3 is Individual San Marino Blue with Individual Polar Blue contrasting stitching.

Since you're doing ~1600 miles, have you planned on having the 1200 mile/2000 km service done while in Germany? In 2016 I had the service done at the BMW dealer in Stuttgart, who is an M-certified dealer. If you don't have it done in Europe, it should get done at the VDC before redelivery, but they overlooked this on my wife's M3 last year.

We did our drop-off at Charles De Gaulle airport outside Paris, and we estimated that we were only going to have about 1400 miles on the car so we didn't plan having it done in Europe and we would have been in France at the 1200 mile mark. The VDC overlooked the service during processing (I have a contact with the General Manager of the VDC in Oxnard and he confirmed this), so I had to take the car back to the dealer and have the 1200 mile service done by them.

Enjoy your trip! Have a beer at the Hofbräuhaus München for me, or really at any biergarten!

It is my first time yes and as you can imagine, I'm ridiculously excited. I've also been to Europe and in particular England many times but never to Germany.

Yeah I plan on doing the service during my trip to make sure it's all done right and in the proper time frame. Sounds like the dealership in Stuttgart may be a good option and funny enough, should be right around the 1,200-1,300 mile mark!

Thank you - anticipation is palpable!

The dealer that did our 1200mi/2000km service was:
BMW Niederlassung Stuttgart
Untere Waldplatze 3, 70569 Stuttgart
+49 (711) 13180
E-mail: bmw-stuttgart@bmw.de
www.bme-stuttgart.de
You'll have to pay for the service out-of-pocket (387.76€ in 2016), but you should be able to submit copies of your receipt to your local dealer for reimbursement by BMW NA.

I don't know how long the service will take. In 2016 I was part of a group Euro Delivery with a total of 13 M cars and we pre-arranged the run-in service at this dealership, so it was going to take all day to do all 13 cars. (Another group member did his delivery a week later and met us at Nurburgring two days after these pictures were taken.) There's a bus stop on the corner of the dealership so we took a bus to the train station and took that to the Porsche Museum and then the Mercedes Museum, and then back to the train station and back to the dealer.

Photos from Service Day at the dealer:
1. Most of our keys
2. Group photo after service (mine's the Sakhir Orange M4)

Congrats! Have a blast, stay safe, and enjoy your new delivery.

I think it goes without saying, but make sure to browse through the ED Trip Reports many of us here have taken the time to compile - it'll certainly help pass the maddening time and may give you insight to venues/activities you wouldn't have previously considered. But, this far into the wait, I'm betting you've read them all over and over.

It's coordinated by BMW when you do Euro Delivery.

Been so busy with the trip that I haven't uploaded any pics! Had a fabulous day at the Welt on Tuesday and my car is even more beautiful than I imagined.

*I have no idea why the two pics are sideways - they are upright on my PC and in the folder I uploaded from?

My wife took a video of me walking down to my car but I'm going to have a little fun with editing before posting that. In the meantime...

For me personally, I don't like the Executive Package and felt I could better use the money elsewhere. I'm more of an old school M3 guy - the car already has more tech than I want/need.
