Good deal or not for MY 2020 - need feedback

My dealer is offering me $5K off MSRP and $1250 rebate for purchasing.

Does this sound like a good deal for a 2020 model year?

You haven't provided enough information for members to evaluate your deal. Model X5 - 40i, 50i, M50i?

Specifically what's the MSRP of the X5 you're interested in? if it's $50K then yes $5K (10% off) is a great deal.

E.g. MSRP $75K - 6.6667% (approx $5K off) = not so great deal.

This is the build:

Please let me know how much discount to target. The MSRP is close to $73K for X5 M40i.

Good build and it's a X5 xDrive40i M Sport. M Performance M40i models are either 3 Series M40i, X3 M40i or X4 M40i - apologies for the clarification.

Invoice is approximately close to 8% these days. You could aim somewhere between 9 and 10%. I'm not familiar enough with West cost sales. Here on the East, forum members have gotten up to 9-11% before incentives. September incentives for 2020s are pretty dry right now especially the 2% drop in residual value.

I submitted a $81420 build and shopping for a 10-10.5% discount before $1250 loyalty.

Bare minimum, I would push for 8% off MSRP and no dealer fees or money factor markup if you are leasing. Send out quote requests to all of the LA dealers and then have you preferred dealer beat or match the best offer. I am confident you'll receive 8% or more.

If you haven't already bought your car or ordered it.. check BMW of Sterling. I got 11% off MSRP.

Alexandria and Fairfax wouldn't match it.

I would target 10% before royalty to consider it a good deal, don't forget with customization things would be harder, maybe if you find something so close at some dealers you can get that discount. Good Luck

Thanks, yes I am doing a custom order and that makes things harder.

Is 10% reasonable for a custom order?

Sterling is a bit of a hike and while I might save 1% it's not worth the aggravation. Prefer Passport as they're closer to work and home (Old Town waterfront).

Many thanks for the tip though!

Anyone having any luck at the 10% range in the midwest or close to midwest or these discounts only being seen on the coasts?

I have been price shopping a custom order x5 M50i in Ohio and other dealerships in surrounding Midwest states. Most I have gotten is 4-5% off msrp all the 8% plus off deals are on the east coast it seems.

You can get a decent discount in the chicagoland area. I was able to get 9.2% off.

Who can point me to a 9-11% discount because I've contacted 4 different dealers and none of them come close except one who said he'd do 7% plus rebates

Are you willing to do PC delivery? If so people from this forum in the past have spoken highly of Greg Poland @ Pacific BMW. May be worth a try...

Also, incentives begin coming out in Nov/Dec.

I was able to negotiate up to 10% off MSRP but now holding off till November - December time frame to decide.

Also one thing I don't like about the X5 is that back seat leg space looked almost same as an X3 (or very close). I tried sitting behind in both the X3 and X5 and the leg room was almost same in my opinion. X5 had slightly more room but for its size BMW could have done a better job.

Did anyone here feel the same?

True but x5 has more shoulder room and much more comfortable seats. IMO the x3 seats are a deal breaker and I couldn't wait to turn my x3 in for the x5

Quick question. When you guys are talking 9, 10, 11 percent discounts, is that for a lease or to purchase outright? Are discount ranges different for each?

Discounts should be similar either way, lease or purchase. I personally got slightly more than 9% off on a lease, but I've seen purchases in the same ballpark. Keep in mind however that if you plan to purchase in cash, that might change things a bit. With these discounts, dealers make up some of the money back in interest payments, which obviously they wouldn't receive if you paid in cash.
