Driver Restraint System Error Message

I've had my X5 since mid-July, with no issues until this morning. I was taking the kids to school and a warning chime sounded and a message was displayed that told me that there was a problem with the driver restraint system and that service was needed. It told me that it was safe to proceed and to continue wearing my seatbelt. When I started the car and drove for my next trip this morning, the error was gone and did not reappear.

Anyone else had this issue come up so far?

I had this on my G01, it is a seat mat sensor, and replacing that is the only fix. My M40i was in 3 times for a total of 45 days and that was the fix from BMW Germany (after a PUMA case was opened), they attempted wiring harness replacement and multiple other things. Your Service Advisor may argue that they need to try the other things, but you will have this pop up again until the seat mat sensor is replaced. Also, fyi the air bag may not deploy on the affected seat in an accident due to this error.

I have the Drivers Restraint Error message as well on my 2019 X5 G05 except mine hasn't gone away. Started yesterday. The soonest the dealer has a loaner available is next Friday.

My appointment is finally tomorrow to get them to look into this issue, as I was out of town last week. It is now happening on most every trip in the car and I am getting multiple driver and passenger warnings. I have also had one time where I was getting automatic PDC warnings as well. Also, my rear tailgate buttons are intermittently working. I'll report back once I have some answers from the service department.

Just picked up my X5 from service. For the driver and passenger restraint system errors, the printout states "Checked faults. Found FZD coding fault. Test plan recommended coding FZD. Vehicle was coded during recall on line C." The recall listed was of course the rearview camera recall/campaign. They also performed the software upgrade to the 2019.55 software version.

For the automatic PDC activation issue, the printout states "Found PMA function faults. SIB stated to updated PMA software for auto parking functions. Vehicle was coded during recall on line C."

No issues on the way back to the office. Hopefully this did the trick.

Well, it worked for a little while. First time I drove this morning, I got both of the restraint errors. Second time I drive, I got the PDC error. I am trying to get back into service now.

It is your seat mat sensors, they have had issues on the G30, and G01. Once those are replaced the error will go away. Please see my earlier reply on this thread.

I saw it and I'm printing it and taking it with me to my next service appointment. I also now have an issue where the passenger seat massage controls don't respond. Isn't technology great?

Yes, it is the "best". I dealt with the passenger restraint malfunction for 2 months (it was only 4 months old at the time, and was an order not bought off the lot), and was getting close to requesting BMW buy my X3 back, haven't had an issue with it since they replaced the seat mat sensor. Hopefully that takes care of it for you, so frustrating when things don't work.
