Wiper malfunctioning

Hi guys, I just had my windshield replaced and found a problem with the wipers after the repair. Have any of you had a problem with the windshield wipers where when you turned them on, they sounded like they were moving in the wrong direction and hitting the car (the part of the hood that "covers" the actual wipers)? Is there some kind of "service mode" for the wipers to move in a different direction...? I was hoping I can change some setting on idrive to fix this so I wouldn't have to visit the service center again... Thanks in advance!
