20" 740M -- different tyres front/back?
Something puzzles me, Internet says these wheels are for 275/45R20 -- however, on my car, the rear wheel are 305/40/R20...
How come? Is it just me (unlikely) Any implication anyone can think of?

In Europe/Belgium you get front 275/45R20 and rear 305/40/R20 for these rims by default.
You can also fit 275/45R20's front and rear (better for winter setup, smaller tyres = better traction) |

That's a very good question. From what I heard, it was the same all around, but the 305 are quite a bit wider then 275 so...

Thanks, Auricom.
Too bad. I like the 740M wheels and prefer to keep a higher profile and greater sidewall, but was hoping to be able to put some wider rubber on the rears. Doesn't sound like that'll fit on the US-spec wheels (which are 9" wide on all corners). |

Rather annoyingly, 305's aren't terribly popular so there is little choices for matching tyres...

they only make the 740M wheel in 2 sizes 9" and 10.5" so Europe gets 2x 9" fronts and 2x 10.5" rears in the US we get 4 front wheels basically, so all 4 are 9" https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1&postcount=18 I haven't seen any 9.5" 740M wheels on any website during my searches, including realoem

I found the staggered 740M wheels
And I found Michelin pilot sport 3 all season in the correct size. But no company makes all season AND run flat for the staggered torment And since my new X5 will have 3rd row seats, I can’t have a spare tire
