Coding Advanced Driving View
I read the Advanced Driving View guide from eaglesrest but can't get it to work. I can connect fine to Esys via Esysx, but whenever I try to read code it tells me "object with name not found." In particular, I am trying to read DKOMBI4 for the Advanced Driving View. There also is no folder called CAFD_00004508 as called for in the guide presumably because of the previous error.
I have: Esys 3.33.4 Esysx Psdzdata Lite 4.19.4 I'm selecting the correct I-step version and connecting via ethernet OBD2 cable Does anyone have any suggestions? I've not seen any mention of this error with the G05. Thanks so much! |

Basic process (skipping lots of relevant details): - connect to car - start ESyS by running ESysX - in ESys, connect to car; make sure it gives the Connected pop-up - Read FA - Read SVT - right click VIN at the top of the ECU tree and choose Read Coding Data; this will read all ECUs and leave local NCD files for you to play with offline; will also want to save FA and SVT files for that - do the rest per the other instructions

I guess I'm going to have to read up on it because I don't see FA in Esys. Is SVT the same as SVT Actual? I see an option for reading ECU under SVT Actual and that throws all kinds of read errors for object with name not found. Thanks! |

The top level instructions I mentioned are all in the Coding module in ESys. Are you successfully connecting to the car? Car in Diagnostic Mode (triple press start without brake)? Pic is not while connected to car, sorry, not near car right now.

I assume I'm connected since my VIN shows up. I'll give it another go tomorrow. Thanks so much again. I really just want the advanced driving view and the PIA ASS disabled for now. I'll explore the cheat codes at some point for some of the other tweaks. |

I did not put the car in diag mode since it wasn't mentioned in the how-to's I've come across. Could that be it? I will try the same procedure plus that and see. Any particular order that should be done? Before or after turning on ignition, etc.?
What is in your screen cap never appeared after clicking the Read (ECU) under SVT Actual. I just got the object name not found error. |

I'll see if I can reproduce your error by playing with a couple of things. A screen cap would help. Not clear right now. Sounds like a misconfiguration. Maybe corrupt or not properly copied psdzdata directory, ESysX license not activated, maybe using 32bit ESys with 64bit configured ESysX ... just shooting in the dark here.

Strictly speaking, by the way, you don't need an ESys setup for ADV and ASS coding. Both can be done with Bimmercode, former in Expert Mode and latter in the standard simple mode.

So it turns out I do get the SVT tree. I had forgotten what the interface looked like connected. Still get the object name not found error and still no CAFD_00004508 folder to right-click on so I'm stuck in the same place as before. I grabbed a screenshot but somehow didn't end up with the whole thing. Hope it's sufficient.

And also please confirm that you did the previous Read Coding and screen cap with either car engine running or Diagnostic Mode on.

Should be S18A_19_07_571_* or similar. Don't select *_DIRECT |

Yap, here is your problem. In this window, for TargetSelector, make sure you select S18A something. Do NOT select the _DIRECT version. You can make it easier to find by selecting S18A as the Main Series. That should do it.

Thanks but in my screen cap of the connection screen I have the non direct option highlighted in blue. That's already what I've been using. It's not S18A, but F020 or I001 since those are the closest to my I-step version.

F020 is the target connector for an old one series, and various other older models. If you have a G05 then that means S18A_* the next part is the actual i-step version of your car, with the target selector ideally equal to or greater than your car's i-step. "Should be S18A_19_07_571_* or similar" |

I don't have the Bluetooth adapter for Bimmercode. It's Android and iOS only isn't it?

But you're almost or all the way there for ESys coding now, so don't really need Bimmercode except as an "on the road" convenience.
