JB3 Install in NC
I'm an idiot, and could not even get the sliding connecters to come out.
Anyone in the RTP area that can help me out installing my JB3 PnP? Thanks!

I did the install myself, pinout version .
If you come to Charlotte, I'll gladly help out, or I'll be in RTP area sept 28/29 with my kids, you could drive up to my sisters house in morrisville and I'll help you out there (already got one guy that wants to test drive a jb3 coming ). Sliding out those connectors is EASY - the trick is just to pry that little tab out just a bit with a small screw driver while putting some minor pressure on the connectors to slide OUT towards you (they slide towards that tab you're releasing). Once you do it once, you realize it's the easiest part of the whole job . |

It's actually not as hard as it seems. Lemme find a pic to help me explain...

You can just pull on the wires...it's a lot easier that way.

Thanks Bimmer Loyalist!
My problem is before this step. I can't figure out to take out that harnesss of the sliding connectors. I pulled out the tab thing to the right, and not sure if I pull up or what. I've gone through the JB2 install video and read over the JB3 directions.

Aha - that part is super easy too, but the MESS of wires in there makes you very cautious.
The sliding piece should pull out quite a long way to release the whole bundle from the socket. You only have to pull out the side closest to the edge of the car, and you'll have to push aside that flexible rubber stuff to pull it far enough. Once it's out, you should be able to lift it up a tad, then close that slider again to make it small enough to pull through the mass of wires so you can work on it... That part alone needs a close-up slo-mo video, maybe with a kicking back-beat and some minituarized dancing girls popping in the background. |

Well, I'm assuming you found a way to install it, or you closed everything back up. Did you manage to figure it out?

I made an appointment for Tuesday to get it installed by a shop close by, and get the codes cleared.

Tell me how the car runs when you get it installed. I want to upgrade to a JB3 myself.

So far, I'm pretty happy with it. It will only get better once it adapts.

Man that's awesome. Did you just get a random technician to install it? Or was it somebody with past experience regarding the e90/92 ECU? I want to upgrade to the stage 3 tune, but it looks a little too complicated for me to comfortably do it myself without fear of repercussion.

Dude seriously? That's like a 30-40 minute drive from where I live! Hmm, maybe I should order a JB3 soon...

Haha, I'm in Gainesville right now, so I googled Raleigh and it said it's like a 30 minute drive for me. So yeah, I'm not in NC though lol.
