This started out as a "day I picked up the car" thread.... and has turned into more of a continuous upgrade/modification thread.

First things first..... gotta shut the kids up.

2x Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets (purchased refurbished on ebay for under $75 each)

2x 10-inch charging cables, usbc to micro usb, with right angle plugs ($1 each)

2x 128gb micro sd cards to increase storage

2x BMW tablet mounts. Part # 51952408224

2x BMW tablet cases, specific to TabA. Part # 51952449295

2x Edifier H650 headphones...... and yes, they fold flat inside the rear center armrest without obstruction.

And..... now on the first appearance accessories.

2x cerium grey fender M badges. Part # 51148094237

2x Autotechnik carbon mirror caps.

Fitment is superb. Install was about 45 minutes for the first (figuring out what I needed to do)..... and 10 minutes for the 2nd one.

Step 1 - pop the mirror loose by prying at the bottom, and then just let it dangle (no need to unplug, there was enough room). I would recommend using something WIDE, but that wont scratch. I ended up using a rubberized spatula, instead of a thin pry tool, because I didn't want to risk cracking the mirror. Worked perfectly.

Step 2 - remove 5 tiny torx screws from the inside of the mirror

Step 3 - gently push in the top 2 tabs that hold the mirroc cap on.

Step 4 - gently pry the mirror trim loose from the housing (only a few mm)

Step 5- gently pry the mirror cap off.

Step 6- install carbon mirror cap.

Step 7- press mirror trim back into housing, and into mirror cap tabs

Step 8- re-install 5 screws

Step 9- pop mirror back in.

I made a short little video to show everyone what the dealer-installed CD player looks like, and operates like.

This is for everyone embarrassed to ask..... because CDs are "outdated".... lol

Whatever.... sound quality is superior to streaming services, and I have a ton of CDs.

No regrets..... not for $420 installed.

Part # 65122451536 and 65122451539

Awesome. I think you should.

I mean, I get it.... CDs are "old" technology or whatever... but to spend this much on a car, and to not have one, when the SOUND QUALITY is better than streaming services?

It's not like we're talking cassette tapes with inferior sound quality. CDs are still relevant, still sound great, and most people have tons of them.

To spend all that money on the B&W stereo, to NOT be able to play CDs?? Just seemed silly to me.

I am absolutely pleased I decided to have it done.

Regarding the sound quality in the cars. I also agree that it's a shame to fill bad source into great sound system (garbage in, garbage out) ... however ... please ... CD's are history. I completely understand all of you who have tons of CDs at home, but they are sooo clumsy for use in cars. And that's where TIDAL comes in. It streams in Hi-Fi (that is the EXACT CD quality) or in some cases even in MASTER quality, which are direct studio recordings, with even higher resolution than CDs. And you have the whole music world, in CD quality on the reach of your finger ... on all of your devices, not only your car. I don't want to sound like some promotor of TIDAL, but anybody who is looking for high-quality streaming service, just check out TIDAL, it's awesome.

It's official.... Run-flat tires SUCK.

I had my all-season Pirelli Scorpions (non-runflats) installed today, which normally wouldn't even be worth mentioning....

..... except it's worth mentioning.

When I bought the car a week ago, I thought to myself "Between the air suspension, downgrading to 21s instead of 22s, and the accoustic glass.... there shouldn't be this much road noise, or harshness over bumps".

I was right. It was those shitty Continental run-flats.

Car rides MUCH quieter, and smoother over bumps. Not just "a little"... it's a NOTICEABLE difference.

I'm not sure I'll ever put those Contis back on the car.

Anyway..... new shoes;
Pirelli Scorpion 275/40/21 front
Pirelli Scorpion 315/35/21 rear
(Stock size.... MUCH better than stock ride)

I think they even "look" a few mm wider, so I'm even happy with the appearance.

Sorry if you've mentioned this previously, but did you also get the space saver spare?

I'm considering replacing the run-flats on mine with non runflats, probably the same tires as yours, but don't have a spare tire.

".... Run-flat tires SUCK."

100%...and that's why I'll be swapping 21" BMW issue perf. summer RFs to factory size MICHELIN Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires (non-RFs) when I take delivery of my new M50i next month.

I did get the space saver. Even with runflats.... it just made sense to add it to the order for only $150 if I recall. I would likely never use that space under the cargo floor anyway.... so why wouldn't you have a spare there?

Just my thoughts anyway.
