From what I've seen the m340i standard cluster looks like the standard 330i cluster with m style fonts... the coded m style cluster resembles the clusters on the M cars and m3

It's the same as the M340i cluster. This is on a 330i.

Edit - Just saw @Beam330's post. I didn't know the M340i had the ordinary cluster.

Beam330 ,

Quite honestly, I have an M340 and my car's cluster looks exactly like the pictures VipinLJ posted. Think the only difference maybe when I start up, the cluster shows the tri-color //M and 340

Having said that, however, I did code the //M in car's iDrive and when I shut things down, the tri-color //M shows up

Hope that helps!

1. Sport mode on 330i
2. Coded M display
3. Sport mode on m340i

The red markings in the places I’ve circled in the first pic (a sent in the second pic) is the only differentiating factor between the comfort and sport modes.

Another thing I noticed is that the shift lights disappear in the M cluster. So does the tachometer in the HUD. I miss those. Looks like I’ll be going back to the original cluster even though the M cluster is nice.

I had it and coded it back to normal, You can never tell what mode you are in and you loose some of the map.

Me too. I missed the shift indicator lights and rev counter in the head up display as well. I think the stock is the best as of now. The M display would have been the best if it showed everything the stock cluster showed (mode, gear number when in S, rev counter and shift indicator lights).

Agree would be great if it still had drive modes, but it looks so good I decided to stick with it! I don’t particularly like the whole cluster changing with different modes, but rather wish it had the small sign in the bottom right corner that said what mode it was in.

Yup. That’s what I meant. Some text at the bottom and if they could have kept the rev counter and shift lights, I’d happily code back

Also, the M cluster needs to be able to show the redline, which it doesn't.

Yup. Which is why, I’m guessing, it doesn’t show the shift lights in the HUD.

And g20s don't even go to 8k rpms right? I doubt the display is going to change because it's a generic M display that is non specific to your vehicle

Nope. Redline starts at 6k rpms and rev limiter at around 6.5k rpms.

I was going to mention that. That is the MAIN difference. I would much rather have oil temp than water temp.
