Thought i'd give this a bump.
As I mentioned to Luke all allocations for Driver training at Phillip Island are booked out for the rest of the year. I shall be receiving new calendar and dates from BMW within the next 2 weeks so hopefully we can all get in together on the same date early in 09. So Aggie, you never know you may actually be coming with us if you receive your car early enough When is your car due to arrive Aggie? Are you tracking it's production at all? |

Gentlemen - How did the track day go? Awesome / Super Awesome / Mega Awesome?
Was the smog I saw coming from burnt rubber or bushfires this weekend? Probably the latter. |

Yeah it was pretty good!
Met up with Androo, his business partner Mark & a bunch of other guys. Was a great day. Aggie, no one was timed around the race track just on the slalom course which Mark won first prize, a new X6!! Androo should have some great video footage of our drive around the track with Geoff Brabham I have a new found respect for the 325sedan & of course the M3! |

Morning all,
Wow what a day. Was great catching up with you Luke. I'll try and get some video up shortly of the flying lap with Geoff Brabham. I think it took us half the time to get home once leaving the track..lol As you have said Luke those 325's are quite a car! Yes Mark was the quickest in the slalom and his X6 is on show in the office to remind me he beat my time..lol The day started off with a nice breakfast and tv footage of Sabine from Germany driving around the Nurburgring in an M5 taxi, yes a taxi! playing in the background. We moved into the "classroom" to get a briefing on cornering, braking, steering etc. temp around 35c, first bottle of water finished. Around 10.30am we headed out in the 325's and had a play on the track and did our first exercise of the day in a slalom time trial which was alot of fun. Wish I had grabbed the video cam for that. temp around 37c. water #2 After that we hit the skid pan in the new M3 sedans. Wasn't as easy as we all anticipated i think a everyone spun but still great fun. water #3 Lunch, Not sure what Luke had but i grabbed the Chicken Kiev and Salad, was a nice meal washed down with water bottle #4 & 5 Hit the track after lunch with water bottle #6 as temp hit 40c and we started on the braking exercise with ABS on and off, must admit I thought this to be a bit boring, temp now up around 44c. Ok the fun finally begins (pick up water bottle #7) as we hit the track in the M3's, what a machine, what a note from the exhaust as we hit the straight doing 220 What alot of fun it was for all of us in our group anyway, as we overtook every other group..lol temp around 46c. Pull into pits and we all emerge from our cars with the biggest grins on our faces and just stare the cars. water bottle #8. Geoff Brabham now asks who wants to go for a couple of flying laps with him. Mark, Luke and I didn't hear the rest of his sentence as we jumped in the car...lol Wow! wow! wow! is all i can say this, man is unbelievable. We thought we were pushing these cars but he just took them to another level. Corners we were taking at 150kmh he was doing it pretty easy at 210kmh, amazing. What a way to cap off a great day. Those of you getting your M's make sure you take up this offer because it is a fantastic day out. Video of geoff Brabham shortly.............. |

Androo - it's an Alfa Romeo Owners Club Circuit Training Day. Essentially a day at the track with some instruction and plenty of time to practice. We do cornering theory and practice, braking and so on with the emphasis on laps rather than exercises.
We've been running these days for 20 odd years and most of the instructors are very experienced club level competitors. The cost is $170 plus $50 for a "day membership" if you don't already belong to a car club. But that includes lunch, coffee etc all day long so it's pretty good value. There are only 20-25 entries taken so if you're interested PM me (or email me - Luke has my email address) and I'll send you the paperwork. |
