Dashcam DAB interference
I was planning to get a battery backed Dashcam for the 3 series, however just had an issue with my wife’s 1 series.
Installed a Thinkware Q800 front & rear with an iVolt battery hidden in the boot. Problem is, shortly after ignition, virtually all DAB stations disappear as something is interfering with the reception. For the time being, it’s been disconnected from the iVolt and DAB is working fine so not the Dashcam itself. Has anyone had any issues with iVolt batteries and DAB? |

I have seen posts regarding this and there is a lot of info on the internet therefore do a search on this forum and look here: https://www.dashwitness.com/blog/how...-interference/
Its seems to be the rear cams cabling causing interference which can be solved by fitting ferrite cores. |

Unfortunately in my case it's not the dashcam, its the iVolt. The iVolt has been bypassed in the boot and all other cables remain as-is and DAB is back working.
May need to relocate the battery somewhere else (currently near the drivers side rear wheel arch). |

I am just about to install the Blackvue DR9000s and was going to place the battery near the fuse box in the drivers footwell. Could be worth trying this location for your battery to see if the dab interference stops.

Really pleased as didn’t want to lose the parking mode functionality. |
