Just did a quick search on the Apple App Store and found this new app... is it new?

Content wise it seems the same, the layout and graphics are a bit more modern...certainly compared to the BMW Connected app!

Looking at the release notes, this app has less options than the connected drive app which looks like is still the main all singing app.

Possibly, although it shows separately petrol and electric range as well as the total. Pretty sure it doesn't do this on the connect drive app. (G20 330e)

The release notes seems to suggest it is the successor to My BMW app. Can your have both running, or if you download the new one, does it delete the old one?

You can run both.

It might be the successor but it doesn't have Alexa or remote software upgrade ability and for those with July 2020 builds, doesn't have the iPhone digital key capability.

So if you want all the features, the connected drive app is the one to have.

BMW will say when to upgrade to this one like they always have done with the changes in apps.

I don't know if everyone so far are just IOS users but I have just downloaded it from the Play store too.
As has already been said let's hope it's a better experience this time round.

My display shows distance in KM and not miles. Cant see where to change it.

So one new features it has over for the old app is the cost of charging for EV/PEHV's.

Using geo tagging it's picked up my last three charging sessions as the same location and applied the charging rate (my electric tariff I entered on the first charge) and applied it every time I charge in the same location.

This app has some great potential.

Hmm odd I've tried to make mine do this but no luck.

Check two areas - the car of course

Second area is all your mapping apps on your phone are set to miles including the Apple Maps (done from the phone main settings).

Of course not sure on your phone type, but try these if not already log out of the BMW app reboot the phone and login in again.

I called BMW, don't know why I bothered but they said do a services update, reboot, delete the app and reinstall. It worked

Absolutely pure luck. Honestly for a premium manufacturer the support is very poor. They haven't a clue. I wish I could find someone who really knows what is going on with

Hmm can't help on the 365 stuff (Work locks this option out!)

Alexa I have connected via the house Alexa's to tell me info about the car and send stuff to the car like Climatising but I think you mean Alexa intergration in the actual car...this I've seen some on here discuss this but I've not seen this in my car anywhere, I'm also running the latest iDrive update 07/2020.30

So, having had a proper look at the app and a think about what it does and doesn’t do, I just submitted this in the App Store feedback section. I note the developer seems to be pro active in responding to feedback so that’s encouraging and as others have noted, saying further releases will be coming.

Here’s what I’ve fed back, at the risk of sounding like the Forum Fuhrer, can I suggest everyone does similar so they ‘get the message’ loud and clear as to what doesn’t work (historically with Connected) but should do and what we expect to see.

I’ve not mentioned remote engine starting, I know UK Discoveries can do this, so regional regulations shouldn’t be an issue, but for some reason BMW don’t offer this in the U.K. but do in other countries, personally I think with a 330e it’s not necessary, but can see it would be with a petrol or diesel engine only.

Did I miss anything:

“As this stands this is inferior to BMW Connected:

• It’s missing the headlights feature and also a quick view of the doors/windows/boot/bonnet status features. It did just flash up saying doors locked or similar when opening the app but then disappeared and cannot be seen or found subsequently.
• Also there doesn’t appear to be a remote software (iDrive) update feature. When this is added, it needs to be the current or more up-to-date iDrive software version and not an outdated OTA one like we currently get through Connected, this causes frequent trips into dealers for a plug-in iDrive software update, which isn’t good use of owners or dealers time.
• Also the link to Alexa feature is missing, not that this works properly anyway in Connected, but needs to do! I can link Alexa for tasks such as check fuel range, ventilate vehicle, unlock etc remotely from an Alexa device, but the in-car Alexa feature which I have seen an official BMW video of, simply will not link through into the car, when following the steps (in Connected).
Outside of this apps remit probably, but the Connected Skill in Alexa says it’s no longer active - probably because it’s being superseded by MyBMW to link with this new app? Something needs doing to communicate it to the user either way.
• Connected has previously shown eDrive statistics, there was a middle tab between remote and info which is now gone - this is an absolute travesty that it’s still missing and an absolute must-have expectation.
• The settings for remote heating/ventilation should be more intuitive, i.e. should be able to programme temperature setting, whether A/C is on or off, control heated seat settings etc, not just rely on the last settings before the ignition was turned off.”

Get hammering the feedback sections in AppStore and PlayStore (? is it?)!

Let them know pushing out a half arsed effort isn’t good enough!

It’s also missing the tyre pressure check message and you can only enable the ventilation immediately and not set a time like the Connected app.

On the door / window status, if I click on the picture of the car, I can see the doors and window status.
