Ipod kit being tested
My contact is busy finding out about the first E90 Ipod integratin kit being tested here
It is supposed to be released in July/August BUT only for NON-Nav cars AND only for cars without Bluetooth preparation ( option 644 ) Will get more details when he does, and we have to wait and see what happens for nav and bluetooth cars |

It sucks.... Really Sucks... This kit is only for the economically weak people who cannot afford Blue Tooth preparation and Nav... Being rich sucks
Just kidding ..... But it really sucks |

I doubt this means that nothing else is in the works... The standard radio is a more popular item, so they're probably right to focus on that first.
I suggest chilling out |

Yeah right! How could they exclude all the premium pack cars? Almost all of the 3 series sold in the U.S. come with the premium pack.
Oh well I'll just keep burning MP3 CD's until then.

Yea im sure this first solution is going to be something very similar to the IPOD adapters for the E46/Z4/X5 which is just a plug in the glovebox with very little controlabiliy.. its actually not the best solution out there. But im 110% sure BMW is working on a solution for the iDRIVE system next, if not, theres aways going to be afternmarket

iPod
Having used an iPod in other cars since the iPod introduction, I am anxioius to see how the plug in works. I believe it is inside the center arm rest. There are so many other solutions for in car use that I am more than happy to go with an FM transmitter - have used it for over a year with very good results.

I am about to buy an MP3 player, how does the IPOD integrate with other cars you guys are refering to? I would have assumed you could just plug it into the jack in the climate controlled center consol, not sure why you need a kit? Or does the IPOD interact with the radio or dash display? If so and it's the only one that does I might lean that way. Could someone educate me.

You can then control the Ipod from the radio or the steering wheel controls But you loose your cd changer in those cars, so you must coose either CD changer or Ipod in them We have no information at the moment exactly how the E90 one works |

Can anyone say how well the integration is on the older models? Is it worth it to get an IPOD solely for the added benefit of the in car use. Could you scroll and do everything necessary to play all your songs. I found the part on the IPOD site but it only states you can access all of your play lists but doesn't really mention being able to scroll through all 5000 of your songs to find the one you want. Could someone comment how easy it is to do so? I was looking at the IRiver but if the Ipod is the only one that can integrate with the E90 I might go that route. How much was the installed price on the last model?
Thanks again, Jesse |

All you have to do is plug it into the AUX jack, and you can have full control of the IPOD in your hand. Or buy and aftermarket radio with the AUX plug on the front, like i did, or there is a a square plug on the back of some aftermarket radios that needs a cable that cost like $35, and its the same, you have full control of the ipod, i have that on another of my cars.
