New TIS website closed

Well...looks like BMW AG shut down the newtis.info website.

nope definitely shut down, obviously the customer had too much information which was costing BMW money in repairs. Knowledge costing them money in repair bills! but what they have done is offered, you the customer an extortionately high fee to access this information.

lets hope someone has a site rip of this!

Could just be cached on russian servers, may be some prorogation time at play here. Ive tried multiple VPN tunnels with Zero effect. ive emailed NewTis for clarity, but the holding page does state its down

Wow. This is a shame. Any other options? I had a Bentley Service Manual on other vehicles, but I don't know if they even exist anymore.

Can a blessed soul please capture a web archive of newtis.info through the Russian vpn? Someone previously made an archive of just the useless main welcome page.

Don’t think that will work, what we need is the site to be hosted elsewhere on the planet to avoid legal issues. VPN isn’t the fix, I’ve tried. NEWtis owner confirmed site is down

Do we have any solution for this? All of us DIY'ers are screwed without this info. I am looking at springs and want to lower, but really need the TIS and torque specs again.

What is the alternate option? Are there any paper Service Manuals anymore? Paying BMW TIS prices don't make any sense for those of us that work on our vehicles.

It's only $30 for a day (=24 hrs) of access. How many days a year do you think you would be working on your car (and require NEW information that you have not seen previously for this)?

For me, most of the time, I like to study the project I am doing for days in advance then do the work. I just do that because many times things don't go as easy as you hope, so I would like to be prepared.

The one day price will allow me to get on there, but I will need to download to PDF or print so I can prep for the work. If something doesn't get as planned the day of then I would have to pay again. I had a Bentley Service Manual for prior BMWs and I would gladly pay again if this was an option.

Have you ever sifted through how many different sections there are on each vehicle? It is a TON of stuff. On my last BMW, I did axles, clutch, flywheel, rear diff, suspension, guide rods, intercooler, exhaust, downpipes, turbos, etc. Most of those were serious projects that took a lot of time and planning, so a 24 hour pass won't do.

For me personally, I really it for more than one day and most of us enthusiasts agree the yearly price is not doable or worth it. I am just hoping that BMW licenses this info like they did before to Bentley so we can buy a repair manual for the vehicle. I loved it on my last car.

How likely is it that you would need all those for a single project?

My Bentley service manual was about $100. I would blow through that amount so fast if I needed to get on BMWTIS every time.

When you look a the numbers, they are clearly pricing for professionals that want access to that data to make money in a repair shop. It would be nice if they considered enthusiasts too. There are ton of DIY'ers like me.

That's all.

Keep in mind that BMW shut down newtis because they want to sell their copyrighted material themselves. If we start to build a library here on bimmerpost, they will come after bimmerpost. Any lasting solution would have to be "BMW lawyer proof".
