Try rebooting iDrive, that has brought it back for some folks.

It appears to be some type of software issue. It has only happened to a handful of owners though so not very common at all.

Could possible be a loose connection ?!? OP what software/iSTEP version you have?
I would let the dealer know nonetheless.

I had the same thing happen to me. Thought the bass went dead and was prepared to call the dealer. After I started up the car the next morning the sound went back to normal. Odd

Yes this is sadly a "Normal" behavior of G05, especially for 2021 production on 07/2020 ilevel. Our shop vehicle did the same thing and problem was narrowed down to the RAM module (with HK sound option). Solution was to either let the car sleep for 20 min or so and try again, or unplug the RAM unit (located in trunk behind left access cover, and behind the main bass amp), let it sit for 20 seconds and replugging it back.
Now we are on 11/2020 iLevel and so far, no issues have been reported. So this issue seems to get fixed in the newest firmware update |

Encouraging that others are having the same issue and that it seems to be software related, with a fix. My vehicle is going into the dealer for this next Monday. I suspect they will apply the software update; I'll let you know how I make out.

Early update: the 11/2020.32 firmware DID NOT fix the issue. Driving home today, the amp disabled the low pass completely once again. This time a guy I know in service center was on duty so I dropped by and had the issue documented. He was a bit vague in his language but he hinted that the AMP/RAM will get replaced. He wouldn't say if this is a widespread issue though. Ill be making appointment soon to have the amp replaced.
PS: He did suggest unpairing the iPhone from the car for few weeks to see if it "fixes" the issue....of course we all know that RAM's low pass filter has no relationship to pairing status since the issue is always happening on FM/Built in Spotify for me. |

Well, that's disappointing, Mission. I'd encourage everyone having this issue to make BMW aware to push a quicker fix. Certainly seems to be happening across models for 2021.

Same here. Dealer installed a software update in an attempt to address this and it did not work. The problem persists. I'll be bringing it back in next week. They could not find anything physically wrong and there were no codes.
I'd recommend everyone having this issue to call BMW to get their attention. It has to be software; I can't imagine they got this many bad amplifiers. |

The newer vehicles have a Receiver Audio Module (RAM) that is now combo amp/tuner/asd unit. There is a base RAM unit and then additional equipment adds a booster to handle the speakers in excess of the stock (US anyway) system.
Sort of sounds like perhaps the booster module is failing or not waking up. Now that the BMW TIs site is offline, we don't have the diagrams to see what the booster is actually feeding in terms of speakers. I thought the basic system (ie your underseat subs) was always from the RAM, while the extra components (D pillar speakers, Bowers mics and lighting, etc) were off the booster module. (This post doesn't really help.. but perhaps when it happens again you could try unplugging and plugging the booster back in to see if that helps at all.)
