How to get rid of the door squeak/creeck noise

I have been wanting to share my experience on finding a semi permanent solution for the never ending door squeaks, specially on low speed driving. It drove me crazy to the point that I wanted to return the vehicle, and be done with it. Luckily, after some investigations and door pushing!, found out that the upper sealant on the inside part of the door is the cause of this unpleasant noise. Had some clear paint protective film that I used on the door sills, used it and surprisingly solved the problem. I taped all over the inside of all the doors, where the upper door sill touched the frame/body of the door. Right now, all my doors are creek free. Name: IMG_0804.jpg

What brand and type of tape did you use? I have this issue on my wife's car.

I bought the tape on Ebay. Just go ahead and type "Car Door Edge Paint Anti Scratch Strip Clear Protective Guard Film" on Ebay, and you would see many options. As you could see on the last picture, I bought many different sizes, but IMHO the best size to purchase would be 3CM X 3Meters.

My door does the same thing.

Can you describe the very first picture? It’s hard to make out exactly where that is.

The first picture does not show where you apply the clear tape. That picture shows the top of inner edge of your car doors, it is what is making the noise. The other picture show where you should apply the tape. Let me know if you have any other question.

Good to know. We had the same issue on both sides. My wife took it to the dealer and she said they applied silicone to lubricate the seals. It's been a few weeks and so far, so good.

I will go with this solution if it ever comes back.

I put Gummi Pflege on that seal and noise is gone. Every BMW I've ever owned needs that stuff.

I used Gummiplege on the doors as well. Now the only rattle I have is from the sunroof, and I think I need to take it in for that. Also something in my door panel buzzes at certain frequencies when listening to talk radio.

Really wish BMW would better design to eliminate buzzes and rattles like Audi does. My old Audi never rattled over the 6 years I had it.

I bought the tape for my wife's GTi as it had the same torsion squeak as being talked about here. Thing is, it only happened after I detailed her car and put wax on the metal portion of the body door frame area where the door closes to the body of the car. Tried all sorts of things to get rid of it including the tape but to no avail. I have removed the tape and used a spray detergent cleaner on the felt (or whatever its made out of) gasket that is at the top of the door frame. I'm not talking about the black rubber seal, rather what looks like a thin rubber seal with a felt like substance attached to it. When the door is closed, its this rubber seal with the felt substance that you see when standing outside the car. This is the first barrier to rain that the door has.
After several cleaning attempts, the noise is 80% gone but the 20% still bugs me. I hesitate putting Gummipflege or anything else on it as it did not come that way from the factory and it didn't squeak till I detailed it. Sorry, I don't have pix at this writing but here is a copy of the one already posted that I annotated to try and get some clarity as to where you are putting the Gummipflege.

My understanding is that the top rubber seal is that what squeak comes from. Luckily my tape is wide enough to cover both rubbers, to the point that I haven't heard a single squeak for the last 6 months.

Ordered GummiPflege originally - but it did not work at all. The tape is a more permanent solution.

Hey BMW community. Im new to the BMW world and these forums. I have a G05 40i that had a terrible rattle coming from both rear doors. I tried a million things to correct it.... and nothing worked.... until.....
After reading the above post i decided to thoroughly wipe down / clear both the door seals on both sides (door seal + body seal) as a long shot. It worked! My rattles seemed to be due to really dirty / dusty door seals that were moving rubbing against the body while driving over rough terrain. If you guys are having similar issues, i highly recommend trying this!

Funny you mention this because when I first cleaned mine, the squeak went away - 100% gone. What I found was that it took a couple of days for the felt-like seal to totally dry out from my cleaning and when it did, the squeak came back. How does this compare to your experience?

There is a BMW door gasket dressing that is likely to help. Supposedly, it not only helps them to slide without noise, but prolongs their life. It's not cheap. There's another one out there, but it's been awhile since I looked and don't remember its name, but it's something like bonseal.

The Gummi Pflege has worked for me. You have to apply multiple times. Worked even for center console creak for me!

This was an issue for my f80 m3. The tape is the only permanent solution.
