Big announcement in release notes of Alexa integration and after update no Alexa in a car. Does anyone in UK have integration?
Not that is a ‘must’ feature but why they share info about it in release notes if that is not available in my car?

Have you enabled 3rd party apps in voice control? I didn’t read the instructions properly first time either :-)

I have it on MY21 car, has software 11/20 - works a treat.

It took some work to enable and even after then, I had to wait a few hours before it showed as enabled and worked.

I don’t have checkbox, looks like my car is not yet enabled for it.

Hi guys, just an update for the Alexa. Maybe it will help if somebody has similar issue.
I am IT guy but setup Alexa is on a Linux compile kernel level!
Here are the steps I did make to happen:
1. I didn't have checkbox for ‘Third-party providers’ in Personal Assistant settings, turn out that I need to update Installed apps in my BMW manually. If somebody don't know you need to go to Apps/Installed Apps -> Option button -> Update apps and services.
2. Switch iPhone connection mode to BMW iDrive (I was using Apple CarPlay)
3. Use voice by saying ‘Alexa’

And it works I switch iPhone back to Apple CarPlay after that and still working so it looks like it need to be only first time.

I'm on an android phone, 2018 X5. Done the car software update but Alexa doesn't work, I don't have any options in My BMW to setup Alexa. The activation word "Alexa" works in the car then I get an error saying for it to work I need to :-
1. Get latest my bmw.
2. Connect smartphone to vehicle via bluetooth audio.
3. Please also connect android phone via wifi.
4. Activate allow connections option under apps
All the above has been done but nothing happening.
Anybody got past this?

Like this "neighborhood watch" here in the US with Ring cameras where users don't out-out and end up having their cameras available for the police to access any time.

You can configure it in old Connected App if available, here are screenshots, if you don't have those probably BMW didn't enabled for your region.

Have tried BMW connect app as well. There is something about Alexa on there but it's connected to the Alexa skill on your device in the house. If you try that link to Alexa it comes up with some comment "you've reached the end of Alexa knowledge, just kidding, the skill no longer exists."

Just noticed both the My BMW and BMW Connect apps have not been updated since tbe end of 2020. So hope some updated apps still come out eventually.

FYI u double posted (just saying...)

I'm in the USA, and I use the BMW Connected skill on the Amazon Alexa iPhone app mainly to precondition my 45e before leaving work. it's faster than going into the Connected app, hitting Climatize, then waiting for confirmation that the command was successful.

I can confirm - doing the reset vehicle data works to add in the 3rd party providers option under voice control and now Alexa works !

What u mean for “reset vehicle”? I don’t have enable third party under voice control and I try what wrote PavloPL but don’t work for me

I thinks it's a reset not a reboot i.e. under the General Settings menu near the bottom.

Maybe I will solve also problem with lost navigation info on HUD

I wrote to Stephan of BimmerCode and he said me to try to disconnect the negative battery terminal in the car for 15 minutes to force a reboot of all control units... but I’m not sure about this...

Right at the bottom of car settings there's a rest button, that's the one you need to press. Everything will work after, but you will need to re apply any custom settings you've made. Doesn't take more than 10 minutes though

Long shot but have you checked that all data privacy is selected in idrive? The options changed and not all get selected
