TireRack search has tire with lower load rating

I was on Tire rack and looking at alternatives to my Contactpro. One of those options is a Pirelli AS+. 225 50/18 the same, but it has a higher speed rating but a lower load rating

Pirelli 95Y
Conti 99V

if my car has a GVWR of 5035 is the Pirelli an option, or No?

225/50/18 pirelli as+ has a max load of 1521lbs per tire rack. 5035/4=1259lbs, so theoretically it's fine for static load, however when you are driving loading is dynamic and will increase as tire compresses during turns and load imperfections. tires with higher load rating, designated XL for extra load, have stiffer/stronger sidewalls, can handle more dynamic loading stresses at the cost of some ride comfort, compared to standard load.

personally, for 5035#, i'd get a tire with XL(extra load). if you are able to increase to 235/50/18 there are more offerings with XL. 235/50/18 will fit your wheel width better, provide more lateral grip and reduce wheel gap.

if not, i'd still look for 225/50/18 with XL

This makes sense, dynamic loading, thank you
Did not think about that in the calculations.

Yes the higher load rating makes sense then!
