Anti-Dazzle Coding (ProTool)
Wanted to post a write up of how I coded anti-dazzle back in with ProTool on android (no, this tool is not available for iOS). I did this using the BimmerGeeks Bluetooth adapter. I did hit a read error over Bluetooth which ended up crashing the app during coding but I was able to recover by trying again. Attempt at your own risk, of course.
The basic procedure is:

Would like to do this at some point but as an ios user (at least for phones and tablets), I'll need to wait and see if they release an ios version of the app. Hopefully at some point the gov't will get its act together and just allow this stuff...

I'm still not sure if I should put 5AP back into the Vehicle Order at the end of this. Right now I've left it out. I think some members on here have advised against leaving it altered as it won't match the VIN and might cause issues with future over the air updates.

Hi wall_nut, you seem to have done one extra FDL coding on KAFAS04:
C_FLA_COUNTRY_WITH_MULTIPLE_REFLECTORS Wondering if you could share what this actually achieve/does?

Unsure, I followed the many scattered pieces of info from this forum and found that some noted it was necessary after a certain OTA update (iirc).

I believe so as this is tied directly to how the auto high beams work. There is no other way to control this feature once it's applied. afaik that's how it is.

Hi wall_nut, really appreciate your post. Another clarification question, did you actually mean to highlight C_FLA_CC_MESSAGE_3 on the image below? Was this an error?

The reason BMW decodes it is that they are required to be compliant with utterly dumbass 50 year old US laws that haven't caught up to this century. Removing that decoding gives you awesome lighting functionality and drastically increased safety and comfort. That's why. Duh.

I am actually not 100% on whether anti-dazzle is available without laser-lights and I've never been able to extract it to a 100% from the forum discussions, but I do believe that anti-dazzle and laser-lights are independent.
I think the most reliable test is whether your car has the 5AP option code — if it does, anti-dazzle is decoded which to me implies anti-dazzle is available on that car with the removal of the decoding (and a couple of extra FDL parameters as of 2020/03 software onwards).

EDIT: So I found this, It looks interesting, thought I don't see this coming to the US anytime soon, even if they changed the laws b/c we all know any American seeing the high-beam lamp lit will still flash us even if they are not dazzled. I mean after all we're incapable of switching to the metric system, which was suppose to happen back in the 70's/80's! Last edited by omasou; 10-17-2021 at 05:15 PM.. |

The biggest reason I want to do it is simply because my car has the capability. Still on the fence though.

I followed the steps, but now my exterior lights are not working, headlights, brake lights, blink lights.
also interior ambient lights. I tried to restore the backup but nothing changed I can't locate the pre-dazzle backup although it's found in my files any thoughts on how to fix it ? |

You guys have scared me. I was going to use Pro Tools, but now I think I'll pay a shop to code it for me. I would use Esys, but my understanding is that Esysx is needed too, and it is not available now.
