Yet another Cell Phone/Bluetooth question
The bluetooth integration is my favorite creature comfort (well, maybe the iPod Aux...) but I have noticed a problem the past week. Seems that sometimes when I get in and start the car, the phone is not picked up by the system. I just the the "trying to pair devices" message. I even tried shutting the car off and restarting it (took the fob all the way out) at a red light - still no phone. Later after stopping for gas, the phone was OK when I got back in and started the car.
Is anyone else seeing this erratic behavior? My commute is over 1 hour each way, which is why I need the phone integration. Not having it working is an actual hardship, not just an annoyance. |

5 series guys that have reported this type of problem have generally found its a compatability problem with the phone, or the software version on the phone

Yep. I've had this problem before. One out of 10 times, it happens What I do is I go into the menu on my Razr phone and select "find me". The car always sees it right away.
Otherwise, the Bluetooth is amazing, especially with the voice commands.

Yep, I have the Motorola V710 phone. It's on the compatibility list, and has worked fine - but recently I'm getting this on and off pairing problem.

I have a Nokia 6310i paired with the car. It usually works perfectly and I agree the voice command is brilliant. However, a few days ago my work was trying to contact me and it kept connecting and then disconnecting immediately, (like Ledzep the phone is a necessity rather than a luxury). I had to turn the phone off and then on again to stop this irritating behaviour.
I contacted my dealer regarding this and he said that it was not uncommon to have an intermittent problem with bluetooth (the reason given by Mercedes for not going the bluetooth way!). I can't say if he was trying to fob me off or not.
