Need New Tires!

I am already needing new tires for my 2021 X5M COMP! Any suggestions for tire and good price would be greatly appreciated. I live in Florida so need need for winter tire. Seems my tires only last about 6k miles.

Thank you,

Lewis

Should be able to get some warranty back on the PS4S. That is still the best tire to run in terms of durability and performance.

Since roads in Florida are for the most part as curvy as an airport runway, you must have been using launch control a lot and probably hitting the on and off ramps rather aggressively.

From what I understand the roads down here are rough in tires because there is some coral used in making the asphalt.

First I am reading that and not sure it is true since majority if not all of Florida's roads are concrete or asphalt but either way 6k miles is absurdly low mileage. Where is the wear on the tire? Center? Shoulder? Scalloped? Punctures?

Pretty even across the entire tire. I do drive rather aggressively, but I still feel that they should have lasted longer.

Call around. At best you get 10-15k miles from Michelins. I won't pay for anything else.

Perhaps LewisM1 drives like Lewis(Hamilton)F1, hence the 6K on this tires?

Same issue! I can see I’m not alone!

Have 2021 X5M. 12,000 miles but split between snow and winter evenly so 6000 on summer tires. Dealer inspection today said down to 3mm and one at 4mm already. Never had a tire wear this fast. I don’t drive super aggressive for the most part. Occasional bursts here and there and “normal bmw” driving the rest of the time.

Getting winters out in today so have 6 months to decide what to do.

What do you expect, it's a heavy car, combined with AWD, insane power, and soft rubber compound - drive it aggressively, and you'll shred these tires in a few thousand miles. Gotta pay to play.

I expected 8 to 10 thousand miles. I've never owned a car where I got fewer than 8 thousand miles. I've owned many sports cars, SUV's and other X5M previous gen and didn't shred a set in just 6000.

If I was really driving like a lunatic 10% or more, maybe I'd say that was ok but pushing it that hard is reserved for special places and times.

I'm reading the Pirelli rubber is unnecessarily soft, and maybe Michelin PSS are the better replacement to get around 10k per set or maybe more.

I'll see what choices are out there next summer for rubber compounds and try to choose something that can get close to 10k so they last at least 2 summers.

I had the previous gen X6M that came with Pirellis, I got rid of them at maybe 5k - they had plenty of life left but were horrible. Replaced with Michelins, which are much better.

On my current X6M I also replaced the Pirellis earlier this summer - around 10k on them with still quite a bit of life left, but they started to dry rot and just drive nasty.

Maybe in Florida the pavement is so hot that it melts the tires faster than other regions?

I started a previous thread on this. At 3k miles, my tires measured 6/32. I do not expect to see 10k miles on my set of Michelins

People complaining about 6,000 miles on their Michelins just don't know our pain.

Haha. I used to run rain tires on my supermoto. On the street the tires would be toast after 2 rides. But a fun 2 rides it was!

Supermotos are the best kept secret, I myself ride a 690 SMC-R. Most fun on two wheels.

Not surprised. I usually replace 2 sets of rears to 1 front. The torque eats the rear tires. It's hard to resist the acceleration. The car wants to go. But yes PS4S is the only way to go for the X5M. I lost the tire lottery and the pirellis only lasted about 6k miles for me. I could wear through them faster but I hold back. My 2020 m4 comp wears through the pilot super sports in 4k miles. The torque is so much fun with the DCT.
