Wheel Center Cap Removal
I wanted to replace my wheel center caps with the floating ones but needed to know how to remove the existing ones without taking off the wheels or damaging or scratching either the rims or the center caps. People have suggested to use sticky tape (e.g. duct tape), small suction cups, or plastic trim removal tool kit but none of those worked for me. What worked was using the technique described in the video below. However, to avoid scratching or denting the center caps or the rim, I used a precision/mini screwdriver with the end wrapped in three layers of masking tape and was able to remove the enter caps quite easily with absolutely no damage to either the cap or the rim! I hope some of you here find this info useful as I spent a few days on figuring this out.

Amazing thank you. This is a mod I'm actually considering!
Are you able to post some photos / video of these on your car? Quite interested to see what they look like if the car is moved forward! |

I haven’t gotten them yet but you can search for some videos on YouTube. Basically, the BMW logo on the floating center caps always stays up regardless of wheels turning. It’s similar on how the wheel center caps on Roll Royces seem to not move as the wheels are turning.
