G05 Big brake kit! F90 M5 brakes for our G05
Thrilled to have been able to test fit a big brake kit many by Tony Chumakov! Tony has been in the BMW world for quite some time, and I felt confident after googling him and doing my research!
This kit is amazing, both in looks and performance. My X5 didn’t have the sport breaks, and as someone who drives….. let’s say, spirited, I needed more braking power. Tony’s kit absolutely delivers. Rotors are stock f90 m5 395x36mm, these things are huge. These rotors are lighter than the MSport option ones though. Calipers are also from M5, but Tony supplies adapters/brackets correct the offset for the g05 spindle and allow full m5 set up to work with our platform. Calipers are six piston, not 4 like the MSport kit. They are beautifully and professional painted in an OEM BMW paint code Blue. So his kit comes with calipers, pads, custom brackets, hardware, and Powerstop z23 carbon ceramic pads. I purchased rotors from FCP to take advantage of the lifetime warranty. I also upgraded to Turner braided stainless lines. This thing stops immediately now. Like honestly I’ve never owned a car with this much breaking power. Plus they stay cool. Install was a breaze. No more difficult that a normal brake job. Installed with a buddy of mine who has a lift. We added the Msport brake option to the V, then factory coded the DSC, and then did the brake bleed procedure with ISTA and DSC calibration. Not sure all of that was necessary, but we did it at the same time. I slightly bent the dust shield a tad, but not sure it was necessary. The only set back was loss of use of the rotor set screw, but I’m not complaining about it given how great these things perform and look. Just for reference, if anyone tackles this, here are the torque specs as well: Caliper bracket to knuckle 110Nm Brake like to caliper 17Nm Brake bleeder screw 18Nm Brake line to hard brake line 17Nm Wheel studs 140Nm (G05) Caliper to bracket 70Nm Tony has awesome been really cool to deal with. He’s passionate about what he does, responds timely, packing was all done carefully, and has just overall provided great service. He’s working on a rear kit with dual calipers, one an e-caliper. I’m stoked to install it next. Look up Tony Chumakov on Facebook. |

Powerstop pads are quiet and have great bite, also minimal dust. These z23 pads are go to for the f85 guys because stock pads squeak before you even think about braking lol

When getting the tow hitch the brakes are: Front fixed 4 piston, front discs 374x36 + rear discs 345x24. The front are the same as the standard brakes on the 45e (assuming 50e is the same) and the rears are the same as they would be 40i, 45e and 50e. To get bigger rear brakes you need to get the MSport brakes.
