XM Puddle lights
Has anyone tried to change these out? I bought the 50th anniversary set and they dont fit at all (even though they are listed to fit).

Just confirmed from BMW parts department in Las Vegas. Puddle lights (door projectors) are not available for the BMW XM.
Albeit a very small issue, it is perplexing that my previous 2021 X6M Comp had superior lighting in this regard than the flagship XM (light carpet for rear doors and door projectors for front doors) |

I know they are on my front doors. Haven't checked/noticed the rears at night. Edit. On the front doors, not the rears.

I am so confused. It always seems like I find actual information on this forum about our cars. My sales guy, who is a professional charged with selling the XM, knows about 30% of what I know about the car, from specs to functionality.
Now I call the parts guy and get incorrect information. Is the training really that bad? Also, there was not a "genius" available when I took delivery. I did not need one anyway. But the existence of that position probably means that sales people don't need to know their product well anymore. I'm just old school in the sense that if I were to sell something, I would know it in and out. |

Ok I figured it out, no thanks to the BMW Las Vegas parts department. How that person did not know this info is beyond me.
The old puddle lights are 68mm. The new puddle lights are 50mm. The XM uses the 50mm version. Slides can be purchase separately. The XM can take four puddle lights total. If anyone purchases, make sure they are 50mm version as some parts sites do not specify, in which case, they would send out the more common older version of the larger 68mm size. |
