BMW have just released some new info saying that the new E81/E87 has undergone even more changes which has meant that the 118d engine now only emmits 119g/km, and the combined fuel economy has gone up to 62.8mpg!

These changes are going to be replicated to most of the 3series range as well. The change will be effective as of 28th sept 2007.

The X3 will also get a new engine in europe, utilising the new 177 Bhp 2.0d unit as seen in the E81/E87.

The new X5 twin Turbo Diesel has just been released aswell. 286Bhp!


Finally more power, reduced emmisions and inreased fuel economy!

If they bring that 123d state side...I'll be the first with his "John Hancock" all over the paperwork...
I absolutely love my CTD, been hooked on diesel ever since. I mean how can you go wrong with a car that has that kind of performance, economy that blows just about everything else out of the water, and if they keep the price within most "young adults" price budget...I think that the diesel stigma could be broken here in the states...

119g/km ,so that puts it in band b ved here in uk ,same road tax as hybrids and small city cars. Diesel technology has certainly got a bright future.

you pay a yearly road tax based on the emissions of your car? do you pay one per car you own and also does it take into account fuel consumption or do they just handle that at the pump?

we pay a lot of tax here in UK to drive a vehicle
1, We pay a yearly road tax based on Co2 emissions this tax is banded A-G ,and is paid on every vehicle you own, and use on the road,vehicles not being used must be registered not in use and then pay no road tax.
group A is below 100g/km and is free, at the moment only electric vehicles fall in to this group
group B is 101g/km-120g/km and hybids and small city cars are mostly in this group costs £35 p.a $70

group C 121g/km- 150g/km costs £115 p.a $230
group D 151g/km- 165g/km £140/$280
group E 166g/km - 185g/km £165/$330
group F over 185g/km £205/$410
group G over 225g/km £300/$ 600 ( from 2006 onwards )
2, petrol/diesel is really expensive it's nearly £1 a litre so thats
approx £4.50 a gallon $9.00!!!!!!!!!
of course the govt does'nt actually spend the road tax on the road otherwise they'd be the best in the world!!!

It varies by State, but in my state, Massachusetts, we have an annual excise tax based on the worth of the vehicle. My e90 330i is $790 (£395) this year, and the 332ti is $155 (£73). Other than that, we have annual inspections that are $40 (£20) that measure that the car still is within spec for emissions. This inspection is also done at the discretion of the State you live in.

There is no annual emissions based fee, but there is a one-time Federal "Gas-Guzzler" tax for any new car sold, which can get expensive for powerful cars. Cars that get at least 22.5 mpg (combined, based on 55% highway, 45% city) don't have to pay the Gas Guzzler Tax. The Tax rate goes from $1,000 for vehicles that get at least 21.5 mpg (combined), but less than 22.5 mpg (combined) all the way up to $7,700 for vehicles that get less than 12.5 mpg (combined). Trucks and SUVs/SAVs are exempt from paying this tax though, since they are classified as pseudo farm vehicles.
