Replacing gold moldings with black ones

My local dealer only stocks the XM with gold moldings. I am ready to buy black ones and change them myself. Q: How are the moldings attached to the doors and fenders? On clips or glue (double sided tape)?
The picture shows that there are technological holes in the door for clips. Does anyone know this?

Local dealer here just wrapped them, said it was easier than pulling and replacing them
