How Much for a 128i?? (Re-Test)

Okay guys, I've done this poll before, but since then there has been a lot of articles published. I want to do a re-test. So how much do you think a BASE 128i AT MSRP would be?

Please State Your Reasoning!

It would Bomb if it was priced too close to the 328i sedan, just think about it 138 pounds difference, 4 doors, real rear seats, etc.

Don't Forget: Nice trim, more luxurious interior.

The 135i will start at 32 grand or there abouts; because if they charge too much no one would buy it.

Well, I voted for $29-30K, and while most folks here are guessing lower, I'm thinking that it might even come in above $30K. As the U.S. dollar continues to tank against the Euro (Thanks, Ben Bernanke!), selling this car in the U.S. becomes less and less profitable in terms of BMW's bottom line.

I still think $29,995 is a good bet for a stripper 128i, just because it sounds nice.

I have no clue why anyone would believe the 135i will cost $30-32k. It's just wishful thinking. Just because some people on this forum aren't willing to pay $35k for a 135i doesn't mean other people aren't. That kind of money is right in line with similar cars with similar power.

$30k barely buys you a nicely equipped Cooper S, and it only has 175hp.

Yeah, I totally agree. Any MSRP below ~$34,995 for a 135i is an unrealistic fantasy.

There is no way a 128i would be 29k!! That is too close to the 328i Sedan! I Say $26,000-27,000

I hope it comes under $28K. Better yet, below $27K, but doubt that.

I love the way people throw around figures that are not even close to being meaningfull, to try to prove their point. A new MINI Cooper S starts @ $21850 & can be equipted with leather, sport pac, limited slip diff, for right around $25k.

As for "only 175hp", that puny figure only has to power a car that weighs about 500lbs less than the 1 series.
It's amasing how wrapped up people get in the horsepower wars that are underway in this country. Remember less weight is always better than more horsepower.

If the 128i bases at $29,995 with "pleather seats", manual trans., and no options, all wrapped up in a two door coupe with marinally usefull back seats, BMW had better come up with something to do with thousands of these cars, because they will not sell!

Yes but I think you have to compare to the E92 328i
apples to apples... coupe to coupe.

So, with the E92 328 base just over $35K
I'm thinking the 128 will just nip under the $30K mark

Are you kidding?? For $2,000 more, you could get a way nicer 3 Series Sedan. There MUST be a noticable gap from the 128i coupe to the 328i Sedan. Say like $6,000 different! Look for $26,000-27,000
