Hello Everyone,

I just placed a deposit for a custom order for X5 xDrive40i. Can someone please walk me through what should I be expecting in the coming days/weeks? The CA told me he would be placing the order today and in about (2) weeks time, I should have the production number that I can use to track the progress. He also mentioned they have a lot of allocations for X5 so he wouldn't be surprised if the car gets delivered between 3 to 4 weeks. This will be my first BMW and so any insight or information would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached my build for those of you who are interested. I was able to secure 7.5% discount over MSRP and an additional $1500 Factory Rebate. Cheers.

Congratulations on the order. What is happening now is that your dealer doesn't have an allocation for your order so they will be entering you into the order bank. Once allocations are released, if there is one available to fill your order then you will receive a production number. At that point you can add your vehicle to MyGarage to start tracking the progress and your CA, or a call to Genius, can tell you your production week.

Thank you for your reply and the information you shared. I am a bit confused since the CA mentioned they already have a lot of allocations? How quickly does one generally receive production number once the order is placed with available allocation?

When an order is entered against the allocation you get the production number immediately. He was referring to the allocations that will be released in a couple of weeks.

Add M-Sport pkg before status 150.

I actually wanted to go with the M-Sport package and the M-Sport Pro with Brooklyn Grey Metallic but me and my wife couldn't see eye to eye(shocking ). I am guessing I still have about a week or two before it switches to status 150? I shall keep trying!

Have you and your wife seen Brooklyn Grey in person? My wife has always been dead set on white for all of our cars and when I said I wanted BG, she said no. Our dealer had one that we were able to see before ordering and she quickly changed her mind. For once, I was able to get what I wanted

She has seen the Brooklyn Grey in person but she is not a fan of the Shadowline exterior trim. It sucks that BMW is only offering that color as a package with M Sport option. Is there any way to get around this requirement?

Unfortunately not that I’m aware of, you can only get BG with the M sport package which includes the shadowline exterior trim. You don’t have to order the M sport pro package which includes the extended shadowline trim though, so the grill will still be silver without it. Don’t know if that helps, or if she dislikes the black roof rails/window trim as well.

Just moved to status 112 in my garage. How long does it typically take to advance to 150? I imagine that's when the VIN gets assigned?

I was between Brooklyn Gray and Skyscraper as well. Went ahead with Skyscraper and the M pro package. something about the BG personally didn't sit right as i can't deal with light colored cars, even though the BG is really nice. The skyscraper with black trim looks great IMO.
Took me a couple weeks to get to 150. once it hit 150 it was finished in less than a week.

Nice build. You will be glad that you ordered the spare tire. It is a bargain compared to trying to get one aftermarket.

Ordered my 2024 June 1st. Three weeks later I was driving it. Couldn’t be happier with the turn around. I have to second that on the spare tire. Kicking myself for not doing that. The Msport looks great if you can swing it too. Good luck.

I agree with you on the black trim but that appears to be out of equation for me. I was surprised to see it move to 112 week after the "order was received" status.

I decided against it in the beginning as per the dealer recommendation but after going through the general conscious of the forum, it was a no brainer.

Wow. That's a quick turnaround! First dealer also told me they were seeing 3 to 4 weeks turnaround time on the X5s but they forgot to mention that was after the order was in an allocation. They purposefully fed me wrong info to get my order but as soon as I figured out they did not have an available allocation(after telling me several times they had one) and I was on their waitlist, I pulled my order back and went with a different dealer.

It will go to 150 about two weeks before your production date. Your CA or a call to Genius can get your your production week and once you hit 150 then you can use the "F12" process to get your assembly date.

I did give genius a call and was advised it is currently scheduled for week 44 build.

Then in about two weeks it should go to Production Begins. That doesn't mean that assembly has started but rather that a VIN has been assigned and parts ordered/allocated.
