Has the price announcement made you less likely to buy the 1er?

How has yesterday's pricing announcement affected your plans to buy a 1er?

For me, not one bit. I've been predicting a $35,995 base price for the 135i, so I got a $320 discount yesterday. But I know some people on here were really hoping for a price closer to $30k.

Whats funny is how many people don't know squat about BMWs and will walk into a dealership next year and buy a 1er because the 128 is under $30K and just a little more than a VW or Honda et al. They don't know what the 1er represents, haven't waited with baited breath for news and pricing. Or junior or little juniorette are seniors in high school now so they get the baby beemer. Expect 328 sales to drop big time.

i will be getting a new car this spring and the only cars that fit my criteria are the 335i and the 135i. i'm torn between getting a brand new 135i for around $36k-ish or pick up a barely used 07 335i with like 6-8k miles for a similar price. i like the looks of the 335i more hands down, but i really want a brand new car for my next one (i've always purchased cars that already had like 10k miles on them because the price drops a good amount off MSRP). i dont know what to do! my brain says go with the 135i because its safer to buy new, but my heart says 335i because i love the way it looks!

Problem solved: Wait a year and a half and get the 135i used.

yeh but the whole dilemma is that if im gonna buy a used car, its going to be a 335i. the only reason i'm even considering the 135i is because i can get one new for $36k-ish whereas a new 335i would be $42k-ish. ya know? so it really just comes down to whether or not i wanna take a chance on a used 335i or be safe and get the new 135i.

The options pricing is tough to swallow, but the MSRP for base is right on.

Garage List
2019 BMW M2 Comp  [0.00]
2017 Porsche Macan GTS  [8.00]
2011 M3  [10.00]
2013 bmw F25 msport  [10.00]
2011 335iS  [9.60]
Am still getting the 135i because the price seems reasonable --- i paid more for my 330 ci which has less standard features and horse power.

The price announcement has just confirmed me that buying 1-series does not make much sense and I should go straight to 3-series if I decide to spend this much money on a car. No surprise there. Actually, my prediction for the price not including the destiniation charge was almost identical with the price including the destination charge, so in short, it is actually slightly lower than what I expected.

I know what you mean. I planned on getting a used E46 M3 until I heard about the 135i. With decent options on the 135 getting the price near 40 I think the used M3 is the best bet now. JMHO.

Good luck

Value proposition is broken. Overpriced, fat, vague handling, hopped up econo car. BMW just lost me, probably permantly. I'm getting a Porsche.

It is within range of what I thought it cost. However, I am not wanting to spend that much on my next car.

I am probably waiting for something like the tii Concept to go into production. I am looking for a more focused driver's car that the 135i.

By the time we know if the tii is coming to North America, I figure this time next year, the initial demand for the 135i will have cooled. Should a tii not be in the cards then it will likely be a modded 135i.

Until then, I'll be enjoying the well balanced driving dynamics of the E46 and likely spending more dollars in the BMW service department to keep it that driving that way.

I think exactly the same way, the only thing that scares me about a 335i is am I buying someone elses lemon? I mean there can't be that many people who get rid of a car within a year of buying it without having a good reason. But I'm not sold on dropping $40k on a car yet. The price of a used E46 or E90 330 is a whole lot easier to swallow.

depends on the lease rate for me. With the 335i being out for awhile, by the time the 135i gets here theremay be some deals on the 335i that bring it close to the 135i lease costs

I've been hoping for a $28k 128i to replace my MINI Cooper S as a daily driver and track car. With the 128i at almost $30k without any options, and the options looking way too expensive, I am leaning towards keeping the S, turning it into a true track-only car, and getting a Honda Fit to drive to work (2 mile roundtrip). Once the configurator comes out and I get to drive a 128i, I might change my mind. If I do get one, it will be ED for sure.

I think BMW went 1k high on both, with premium being 1k too expensive as well.

That ZPP price is a bit odd - wonder if there's things in it that are standard on the 3 series, which would indicate a reason for the $1K higher option price.

someone said power seats but i haven't verified that.

still it seems like a way to generate more revenue by upping the premium pkg cost AND requiring that package for the fancy interior colors. maybe i'm being paranoid.
