And just like that.... SOLD (to me)

So I called my preferred dealer and salesperson today, and it turns out they did have an XM Label inbound and it’s already on the lot! The best part is it has the 23 inch wheels that I would have preferred! It’s also in a different color called Jerez Black Metallic. They are running the numbers now, so this could be happening!

Thats look GREAT. Wheels make a big difference and that color with the red accents is sharp. Good luck!

Hope you reel that puppy in! Is the Jerez Black just a darker, or blacker, black? Or does it have some other tinge of color in there? Looks like it's just a deeper black.

I honestly don’t know. I haven’t seen it in person yet, but I’ll be heading up there shortly. Despite purchasing 4 of my last 5 BMWs there (over 10 if you include my parents and my son) in the last 7 years, I’m a little disappointed with the lease numbers I’m getting. Stay tuned on this developing story…

Judging by all of your posts today, it sounds like you’re trying to talk yourself out of it. I’ll let you know when I think of it when I see it in the next 30 to 45 minutes.

Well, it looks even better in person. They’re not letting anyone test drive it, but I did test drive the regular XM and boy what a difference it is over my IX M60.

It looks like carbon black metallic, which was the same color on my M550. The dealership was closing, and we’re not quite in agreement on the numbers yet, so I did put down a $2,500 deposit just to hold it until we work that out. I do love it..

644 hp vs. 738 hp for one thing. The vehicle is a lot roomier than I was expecting. Definitely all about luxury in the backseat. Lots of room in the cargo area. I actually prefer that this one does not have the 22” red and black wheels that most of the XM Labels seem to be ordered with. I really enjoyed driving the base model. Very responsive and tight as you would expect with any true M vehicle.

Yes, it’s essentially the same vehicle with a factory tuned engine. The suspension and powerplant is exactly the same as the base model. An argument can be made that you can get a race chip for the base model and save some money and have even more horsepower, although this one is slightly more exclusive. Plus I will be leasing this, so I’m not interested in doing any third-party modifications that might void my warranty.

FYI, BMW dropped the word “Red” from the model name. It’s official name is XM Label.

Loving the tune on the XM so I am sure there will be a XM Label specific map you should run with, even for the label it will be worth it….

As someone that has leased and tuned an M5, 750i, M3, M760, among others I can comfortably say have a blast, just pull it before going into the dealer for service.

How difficult is it to install? Doesn’t it integrate with some wiring harnesses that sit between engine modules? Then you choose your maps based on the mobile app? How far off base am I? This is what I remember remember on my M550. Thanks.

Based on what I’ve seen, base M and Comp are using the same map.
Except G8x, map between 6MT and AT are different.
Reduced on the 6MT due to transmission limitation.

If you M550 was the later engine, it will be similar.
Small hand is a plus, otherwise more things need to be removed to access the sensor.

On the side note, if someone local to me with Label, hit me up so I can confirm the mapping for RaceChip.

I’ll see if I have any money leftover after the therapy sessions I’m going to need after spending this much money on a vehicle. Perhaps I should just check myself into the insane asylum instead, but that might prove to be even more expensive.

Your therapist probably will ask you to do the session in the Label.

When I told the GSM I’m going to need therapy, he pointed at the XM and said there’s your therapy…. In other news, I’m going to have to shift away from Progressive Insurance because they have a hard limit of $150,000 per vehicle.

Not sure about other state, but California auto insurance rates just increased 20-30% in August.
I could’ve lease a mini XM (X2) with it.

Yeah, looks like a slightly darker carbon black, which is pretty damn nice, in my opinion. Your pictures look better than the dealer pictures. Good luck.

Thanks. The difference is bright lights at night versus natural light during the day.
