Can we adjust the xenons like on the e9x?
my lights seem to be pointed a bit low, anyone know if we can adjust them as described in this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...adlight+adjust (first page has pics- and they turn the screw counter clockwise about half a turn)

You really shouldn't adjust them any higher, unless you like blinding people. The cutoff should be just below someone's rear window, if you're following at a safe distance. Any higher, and it'll be shining in their rear view mirror.

Yes, there is a white plastic allen screw behind each headlight. Use a 7/32" allen (or 6mm) to twist the levelling screw. Since I lowered my car (H&Rs make the front a bit lower than the rear), I did 4 turns counterclockwise to raise the headlights a bit.
Be careful to not raise too much and blind other drivers!! |

Larryn, did you notice if you can adjust it with a screwdriver? (i know on the e90 you can). I know there's a flathed in the bmw toolkit, not sure if there's an allen wrench.

yep, definitely lower than the xenons on my g35 were. I have a benchmark where I compare the distance of my lights to everyone else's lights and the 135's are adjusted too low. the passenger cars with the longest light path i've seen are lexuses.

You could jam a flathead in it and get it to work (I wouldn't recommend that), but it's not a flat head slot. It's a plastic hex head directly behind the headlight.. VERY noticable.

Another helpful thread and another question answered. I, too, had thought the lights targeted a tad low, now I know why. Thanks guys.

fyi, it is easily adjustible with a phillips screwdriver. litterally don't have to apply any force.

There should also be a screw for adjusting the horizontal angle. Means you can make the curb light a little more broader. Doesn't compromise the vision ahead and gives wider illumination. Don't fiddle too much with the driver's side one as again you can blind other traffic.

They are just too low for my tastes. I've raised them on my Z4 and will be doing the same on the 135.
I've done many projector retrofits and even one in my bike and raising them a bit will not blind oncoming traffic, just don't go too high. There is a proper procedure to aligning the lights on the net. |

I was thinking about taking my car in and letting the dealer check the adjustment. They're fine on bright, I also think they're a little low on dim.
After seeing that they can be adjusted just like regular headlights I'll just take care of it myself. Good thread. |
