It IS fun! When my fiance and I went, we both drove the 135i and E92 M3. I drove the Alpina B7 and she drove the 650i' vert. We actually liked the 135 slightly better than the M3, but the M3 is a great grand tourer.

We've had it the past few years here at Rasmussen; we don't have it this year.

What's the story with this event? Is it a fund-raiser? Can anybody give any details about how it works? I saw on the site that you register for the car/time you want. Do you just show up at that time and drive, or is there a line, or...?

When you arrive for the event, bring a demonstration of current auto-insurance plus your driver's liscense, you will sign an insurance waiver which requires you drive a particular route, when a car is available you get in and go. All by yourself, you and the car.

I'll be at the event for about 5 hours and will likely put 150 miles on various hot-rods including the M3 plus a Z4 coupe.

The local route takes place on one of my favorite haunts, so I know exactly where, more importantly, where not, to have fun.

Just returned, the M3 is powerful, duh, makes a wonderful V-8 sound, has superior, connected steering; the 135 is quicker, feels faster, more nimble, more torque, and, probably more importantly, I am so glad I got a 135 rather than an E46 M3. Today's E92 M3 was a manual, BTW, perfect for comparing to the 135.

Should you have the opportunity to partake of the Test Drive, the event is highly recommended, get in an M3.

My dealership only lists X5s. If I select assigned on site will they likely have anything else?

I'm sure the tour will have the same compliment when visiting your town.

Man, this is a HUGE car weekend here in Medford, The BMW Test Drive, the annual cruise, the biggest hotrod show of the year in this valley, top fuel at the drags tomorrow, drifting at the fairgrounds, and, last, but not least, the antique tractor show in Provost. BTW, the Rogue Valley is a mecca for hotrods, see em' everyday.

Another thing about the test drive, all the cars were white, I've got to tell you, AW really works with the 135, if I could do it all over I would likely go with that. As this car is so unphotogenic, Internet images simply cannot convey the feel of the car, white works!
