Let's install the Grocery Grabber
Tools Required:
-5/16“ or 8mm Drill bit and drill -Drill Bit Collar -Phillips Screwdriver -Center Punch and hammer -Masking Tape Installation of the Grocery Grabber BMW supplies a very nice installation manual for the Grocery Grabber. Surprisingly nice as it is not Ikea-style drawings as BMW usually does but actually has notes to go along with the pretty pictures. The Grocery Grabber Contents: You also need the supplementary Installation kit: The kit comes with a template to mark where the holes will go: Cut out the trunk light location as well as the leading edge of the sheet metal as indicated on the template. The side shown will mount the Grabber on the passenger side of the trunk. If installing on the driver side, you will need to flip the template. Use some masking tape to tape the template to the trunk and mark the holes with the center punch. With the location of the holes marked, drill the 5/16” holes. Important: Do not let the drill exceed 5mm as it can damage the car. I used a Drill Bit Collar set to 5mm to make sure I did not go beyond 5mm when drilling. Note: You will want to lay some old towels or a drop cloth in the trunk area prior to drilling. Sheet metal shavings are tough to get out of carpet. With the holes drilled, insert the supplied well nuts into the holes. You will now mount the mounting studs. The hardware layout is as follows: The Mounting Studs installed: With the Mounting Studs installed, install the Grocery Grabber and use the plugs to cover the screw holes. |

Bump to find out if ANYBODY else has these installed from the factory. I have the Premium Package, and do not have this, as Clayton does.

Cool accessory but who risks their 1er at the grocery store with all those shopping carts and inconsiderate minivan/SUV owners

Does the grocery grabber reduce the loading height, meaning bigger boxes don't fit? If so, by how much?

What's worse than that is how they charged me $125 to install each of the CF mirror caps! That's $250 to just snap them right on!
