Good info, do we know if the side-markers are required by law? As many cars are not equipped with same, I would tend to believe the side-marker is a 'BMW thing'.

I think he means the method in the link.

I looked at my car last night and the lights do not slide then pop out. I hate to say it, but I think you have to pry them off. I saw no access from the engine bay and no access from the wheel well. The lights are recessed into the sheet metal a bit so I do not think they are sliding.

On e90 post it looked like some of the 3s you slid then they popped out (the way BMW used to do it) and some of the 3s you had to pry the side marker off.

Use something that gets under it, between it and the sheet metal, and then pry it off. I am not sure if this is the correct way though.

Call your dealer and tell them that you have a bulb out and need to replace it. Ask them how to remove the sidemarker to access the bulb.
