Ordering my First BMW X5 50e

Hi Folks,

I've been wondering around this forum and reading posts about BMW X5 and getting ready to order my 2025 X5 50e. This is what I'm going to order in Canada:

Exterior: Carbon Black Mettalic
Interior: Sensafin Black
Packages: M-Sport, Premium Enhanced Package, Advanced Driver assistant package

Wood Trim: Fine-Wood Poplar Grain Anthracite Brown Open-Pored Trim
Wheels: 21" Wheels, Y-Spoke, 741M, Orbit Grey, Burnished, Perf. RFT

I'm also going to order a set of 19" Wheel and winter tire and BMW wall box for charging at home.

Is there any advise/recommendation for my first order?

Thank you

Unless you love the look, or are getting a great deal from BMW on the wall box, there are lots of other options, some of which can provide some useful (to some) features for less money. The wall box is a basically dumb EVSE. That’s all you need. But if you want to monitor or control the EVSE from the internet on your phone or computer, you may want one that offers those features. If you live in an area that has off-peak power, getting one from your utility company may offer some rebates or special prices, and, while the vehicle does have logic to adjust when you want to charge, you may not care, but it could be significant in costs for electricity if the utility company could do it to maximize your savings.

I think the OEM winter tire package should fit, but double-check. Not all 19” wheels will fit, depending on the brakes on the vehicle. Buying OEM wheels and tires will let you use the dealership if there’s ever a problem, but there are others out there.

You’ll enjoy the vehicle. Note, black is one of the harder vehicles to keep looking clean. If you lived further south, black might not be a great idea because black on black can get quite hot sitting in the sun (and it will in Canada, but not as bad as further south!).

If you ever think you might want to tow something, or use a bike rack, now is the time to get the towing package, as retrofitting it is much more expensive, and difficult to achieve all of the OEM features. If nothing else, make sure it has the make ready package (it might be standard in Canada, but is not in the US).
