6' 5" would fit in the X5 comfortably

Hi guys,

I just wanted to ask you if someone 6 feet, 5 inches tall would fit decently in the BMW X5? and for longer trips would still feel comfortable driving the X5?

Thank you.

Yes, I’m 6’5” about 240 athletic build and am on my second X5, first F15 now G05 and love it. Back seats are a bit tight for someone out size but fronts and headroom are no issue at all.

As long as you don't need anyone behind you to be comfortable, you'll be fine.

As already said, up front no problems. In the back no way! Somehow BMW has managed to make a massive (for Europe) vehicle with less rear leg room than many cars two classes smaller Our X1 is roomier in the back than the X5

OH and the X1 rear seats slide on rails and recline, the X5’s don’t!

Oddly my 2017 GLE was roomier than my current X5 2025. The GLE was 6inches shorter and 1 inch less wide exterior but still had more cargo room and backseat area. Never made sense but the front compartment was comparable and was most important with no kids

I can confirm that the front is fine for someone large (I'm 6'4" and borderline 300lbs, and fit comfortably). I can also confirm the back seat is abnormally short for a vehicle of this size, and would be a tight fit for moderate size or larger adults (but my kids fit just fine).

FWIW, sometimes, it depends on your actual body proportions. I have a college friend that is the same height as I am, and while he’s perfectly comfortable, if I try to drive his vehicle, I’m not. It’s a difference in torso length…I’m longer in the torso than he is, and he has longer legs…FWIW, my arms are shorter than his, which can limit how far back you can sit with the limits on steering wheel adjustment available. Now, I wish BMW would join the very small proportion of manufacturers that also had pedal adjustments…the combination of those two would make for yet a greater range of fit for those outside of the median. Had that on one Ford Expedition I rented a long time ago, and it was great to tune in the fit.

Note, with the comfort fit seats, there are so many different parts that can be adjusted, it can take some time to get it fine tuned to the best for you. Seat memory can be very useful and save time.

6'6" 235lbs

I have an F15 that fits great, and just ordered a G06.

The X7 is really nice too for taller people. It was more vehicle than I needed.

Oddly the latest version of the 3 series (G20/G80) fit me really well too.

Outside of BMW the Cayenne is good for tall people ( I almost purchased one) and
here is an interesting on the Porsche 911 is good for tall people. Although ingress and egress are a bit tough.

I agree as well, you as the driver will be fine, but the passenger behind you must be a small person. If you want to sit behind yourself, and be comfortable, G05 is a wrong car. Combine leg room in G05 is the same as 2004 CRV (now even the new one)

6'7" 260 here, very comfortable. I was equally as comfortable at 300 lbs. The leg and head room is great. In fact, the seat goes too far back where I feel like my arms are stretched out too far; I like it closer to hold the steering wheel and have my elbows placed comfortably.

As people mentioned above, the second row space sucks, and it will be even tighter behind your driver's seat. You don't want to put someone big back there for a long drive. I like to think about X5 is that it's like a coupe with a situational space in the back for others.

The other IMPORTANT part is when you move the front seats all the way forward, you will have pretty good amount of space in the back seat where tall/big you plus a date can fit to do all sorts of unspeakable things

I had an F34 before the G05. The F34 had an amazing amount of space both in the front, and in the back. Probably one of the roomiest BMWs.
I am 6'2". My concern was the same as yours.

You will be fine in the driver's seat. It is very comfortable and spacious.
And while the rear space in the G05 is smaller than in the F34, I think it is just fine.

Most of the time I have family in the back, and noone has even complained. They always said that there was plenty of room for them.
