Delivery Timeframe
Hi Guys, I've joined this site as I'm very keen to get hold of the 135 coupe. My wife and I took the car out last Saturday for a demo run and gotta say, what a joy to behold. We currently own a 2006 Z4 2.5si manual and 2007 120i hatch auto and while great and enjoyable cars in their own right, the 135 happens to be coming along at just the right time for us as we've decided to down-size the fleet to just one car. But the timeframe for delivery is a real shocker!! I've read elsewhere on this site that some of you have been waiting nearly 12 months!! How the hell do you keep sane?? Waiting 3 months for Zed was plenty long and hard enough but my dealer reckons a build date around Feb or Mar 09 - sooooo far away.
Anyways, very happy to be onboard and really appreciate in sharing the excitement and enjoyment that you all have towards this car - it's infectious! In terms of what we want? Well, we like the sparkling graphite with the beige interior, it'll be the auto with sunroof, top spec sound system and alarm. Not yet sure about the comfort access but definitely do not want the i-drive - not that I don't like it, just don't need it. Thanks guys, Phil |

Hi mate yeh seems like they selling rather quickly. Surprised by a Feb build date though. Maybe you could ring some of the Sydney dealers to check that.
I placed an order on the first Saturday after the official launch and got a July build - September delivery. Might be worth the wait I think! Goodluck

Hey Phil..Definately ring up some of the Sydney dealers.
You should be able to get behind a 1er by Sept/Oct. I ordered early March and picking up my vert tomorrow afternoon. All up nearly 12 weeks wait from time of deposit taken. The wait aint that bad....NOT Good luck with your purchase. |

Welcome to the forums Phil.
According to another 1addict member, Canberra only have 6 cars being delivered this year. Have you tried hassling your dealer to try and get you the 1er? Sparkling graphite and beige is a nice combination. Good luck with the order.

You might be lucky when you ring around and a dealer might have a car on order with your specs..
Or a cancellation.. Just let your fingers to the walking and you do the BS to the dealer...hehehehe |

Auto Classic told me today that they're now out to a December delivery.

I ordered about 2 months ago for an August delivery....
This doesn't surprise me. For all those 'texers it reminds me of the peak of the GTI rush.

Thanks guys, I'm going into the dealer tomorrow morning to discuss leasing the car (first time at that) and to query whether the car I want is available elsewhere or to firm up a build date and delivery time. The timeframe seems a lot but I do need to sell my Z4 and I'm going to do that privately rather than as a trade, so I'll need time to off load it. Bit of a shame really as I really love the Z4 and it's in perfect condition, so if anyone is interested in buying a Z4, let me know.

Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated. I did go into the dealer today and dropped my deposit and at this stage, it appears that I am indeed looking at a build date of around Jan or Feb'ish 2009. Bit of a bugger, but I do need to sell the Z4 so the sooner I sell it, the sooner I can look at going to Sydney or Melbourne to see if I can get a car sooner.
Is the Comfort Access really worth considering? It seems like a good idea but not sure if I really need it - someone please convince me. Zuzu - thanks for the tip mate, I will definitely do that. |

I went with the comfort access just because it's something unusual. Probably a bit gimmicky but from all the reviews I've read on here it seems to grow on you quite quickly.
I've never really understood the point of having a start button but with comfort access it actually makes sense. Keep your keys in your pocket and hit the button. Also I have 5 or 6 keys on my key ring and hate them banging around when I'm driving quickish.
