Order to west coast delivery timeline

Hope this gives some timeline guidance to those custom ordering an X5 for west coast delivery. Obviously lots of things can alter this timeline (weather, other production/travel impediments, options added at the accessory center, order volume at the factory, stop sales , etc), but this is a rough idea of how long it will take end-to-end. Keep in mind I did not have an individual paint color, which adds significantly more time as I've read here.

Order placed (slot already allocated to dealer): Aug 29 (Day 0)
Production completion date: 9/17 (Day 19)
Accessory center (had the BMW ACE dash cam installed): 9/18 (Day 20)
Carrier assignment and on a train: 9/19 (Day 21)
At the Kansas City train station: 10/10 (Day 42)
Scheduled arrival at Renton, WA lot: 10/23 (Day 55)
Expected delivery day: 10/24 (Day 56)

So, 56 days end to end, about 8 weeks. Likely several days shorter for California delivery due to shorter train distance.

Wow this is super quick!

Mine too 4 months... 1 month to wait for allocation and another ~3 weeks for that stop sale saga where the car was in QC state for almost 3 weeks.

yeah, all bets were off with the stop sale. That skews the order-to-delivery time significantly. Mine was built after they had changed part suppliers.

Lots must have changed since I ordered (individual color) because that timeline is nowhere near the one I have going on. I ordered my custom order X5MC at the end of March and the car just arrived in Renton on 10/10. Now I am waiting about another week to ten days for it to be shipped to Portland…

I'm in Portland area, what color is it so I can watch for it?

Stealth wrapped Urban Green (making it look matte). Hoping that there will not be too many running around the area 😂

Per my original mail, individual color adds a significant amount of time to the timeline. Mine was standard color and options on a 50e.

Sorry - didn’t mean to allude that you were saying something incorrectly!
