Griot's Newbie -- Car Washing Essentials

I'm on the Griot's website and plan to buy a few things to wash my car. I am going to buy other stuff on a need basis from here on out to spread out the cost. Can anyone give me an idea of what I should buy?

I was planning on ordering the:
Starter Car Care Kit
Sheepskin Dust/Wash Mitt
Ultimate Wash Bucket
Lambskin 4-Finger Mitt
Micro Fiber Drying Towel

I was also considering the microfiber duster and the sheepskin mitt for the wheels.

Any other essentials I'm missing out on. Any other recommendations?

I'd particularly love to hear comments on the duster, as I have a Monaco Blue 135 and the pollen and garage dust is killing me.

Don't be nervous. I tried a clay bar for the first time and was happy with the results. My paint it smooth as glass...maybe smoother! It was very easy to use. Just use lots of lube!!! Go to the Mequire's website and they have avideo of Jay Leno using the clay bar. You can see it in action and see how easy it is to use.

get your microfiber drying towel here : Waffle Weave MF

Its a lot cheaper and the same thing. Griots is way to expensive for what it is. There are a lot of other products out there that are much better and sometimes are cheaper if not a similar price. NO one company makes every product good. Example: I use Chemical Guys for soap and clay lube and sealant. I use Sonus Green Clay and Mezerna for polishes. Then my favorite wax is Zymol Concours.

Do a lot of research before dropping a lot of money at one company. just my .02. Check out e90post detailing section. there is a lot of talent on there when it comes to detailing.

Results i got on my GTI: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145005

Here is my proposed order. Any comments on where I can save would be GREATLY appreciated!!! On a side note, since this is a weekend only car, I plan to get some wax and polish in about a month or so to help ease the cost.

11102 Car Wash, 16 Ounces $7.99

11347 Spray-On Car Wash Kit $29.99

11345 Speed Shine® Maintain Kit $22.99

11220 Tire Cleaning Kit $19.99

11224 Wheel Cleaning Kit $19.99

11279 Bug Cleaning Kit $29.99

10222 Sheepskin Dust/Wash Mitt ($16.99 x2) $33.98

67260 Ultimate Wash Bucket $39.99

92515 Short Handle Synthetic Tire Brush $6.99

10209 Lambskin 4-Finger Mitt $7.99

81258 German Window Squeegee With Telescoping Handle $19.99

66094 Wheel Wash Bucket $14.99

11117 Micro Fiber Drying Towel (buy 2+ save $2 each -- $24.99) x2 $49.98

12210 Three Sets Of Five Micro Fiber Wipe Down Towels $24.99

11078 Micro Fiber and Foam Pad Cleaner, 35 Ounces $12.99

Subtotal $342.83

This all seems nuts! Is it worth it??? After the polish and the orbital, I'm looking at another $300 easy!
